Yes. He's saying they can suck it, being all pissed off about Giroux not being there (what this whole thing started off about). I don't think he meant it about the team or the games, more the "OH NO, GIROUX'S NOT HERE!" mentality. At least that's how I read it. - jmatchett383
Which is what I was saying originally.....Its CANADA. Its going to be a big deal if one of Canadas best players don't attend. Starting off a comment Canada can suck it and ending USA USA USA and you read it that it was just about Giroux.. |

I don't think anyone has an issue with stating that it's going to be big news in Canada. What I have an issue with is the reasons you gave to support why Giroux should've been there. I disagree with that. |

Bill, were you at the Canada-Sweden 2OT game? I think it was 16 seconds shy of a 3rd OT when Yzerman scored. Maybe not as great as 87 (Gretzky was old by that time, Lemieux had retired, but it had Lindros in his prime), but still fantastic. |

Perfect I respect that. I respect Girouxs decision not to go but you can see from Hockey Canada standpoint nothing they were doing at this camp would hinder the recovery to Giroux. That's why they are disappointed. |

The Canada can suck it part, yes (about Canada, not the Olympic team past or present, more the journalism and national hype this was getting). The USA USA USA thing, I figured he was saying it as that he's gonna root for the USA since the talk was all about the Olympics. Just how I viewed it, sorry. |

But are there really elite nonprofessionals playing hockey at any organized level above bantam? Juniors are paid, NCAA players are paid (with an education), minor league players are paid. It's just the level. The quality of competition has improved in every single sport since the artificial amateur status thing went away. - bodiva88
i'm talking anything above junior/college level or their equivalent. |

Again, I saw a picture (go to TSN.ca, then click "NHL where they're all wearing gloves and holding sticks. To my knowledge, Giroux can't do either of those. I'm not sure WHY they were wearing them, but Giroux woulda looked a bit out of place there. |

If I'm the Flyers, I think ball hockey with gloves and sticks could represent a small risk of injury. Is that risk miniscule? Probably, but I'm protecting my number one asset. |

oh my are you serious.... or being funny. Giroux would not have been expected to participate in the ball hockey did you ever hear of spectating, taking it all in, watching the systems they plan on implementing in February. That was the only time they were on the ice surface, there s much more going on at that camp besides the hour of ball hockey yesterday. |

How tho. Do you not think Giroux wants to participate in Sochi. Do you think Hockey Canada cant form a team to win without Giroux. The Olympics is a short tournament with little to no prep time do to the NHL season. The players will have one, maybe two practices before playing their first game in February. Do you not think Giroux going would have been beneficial to him as well as Hockey Canada if he is named to the Team come December. |

Well, what do you want? He chose not to attend orientation. Okay...now what do you want the repercussions to be? Leave him off the team? Go ahead, that would make my day. |

Whoever writes the copy for those VisitPhilly.com billboards does pretty good work, actually.
They did a pretty good one for when the Phillies got Cliff Lee back:
