Seriously? He just says he is angry about being a healthy scratch. You know how many top line players around the league get benched for under performing and he goes on record as saying he is angry. Refusing to talk to the press and the coach expects a negative reaction from him. This is the first 4 articles I looked into. You know it is true. We all do, your turn for google if you want to prove me wrong. Point is though, Smyth, he is not wearing no C next year. He is ugly like Bucky but from what MacT said Gagner seems to be the morale in the dressing room.

I would rather put the C on an an ineffective player that tries hard consistantly and wants to be an oiler than an inconsitantly effective player that sometimes puts in a mediocre effort and wants to be somewhere else.

MacT said best case scenario for the careers of Horc and Hemmer, they get dealt. Don't know where people are getting that hemmer wants out or EDM is desperate to get rid of him

Of course he said he was angry. He is a pro hockey player who hasn't been scratched in his long career. He admitted he had to work on some stuff and it was the coaches decision. If he reacted like "oh no big deal, Hopefully I can play the next one" I'd be worried about his attitude. Or if he threw a fit, how this discussion started, and threw teammates or the coach under the bus to the media I could agree with you. As far as I'm concerned Smyth responded in a mature, professional manner. He shouldn't be ok with being benched, he was mad, got over it, and worked on the issues leading to being benched.

This is Hall's team now. I think he might not be ready for the C though as he has some game to delevope. No matter what Vet we put the letter on , a year or 2 down the road everyone is going to expect him to "hand it over" to Hall. Easy for Smytty to do seeing as how he'll be retired.
