no heart, and without a contract he'll be getting no checks. no checks = not physical

Do you think he feels he'd have a better chance of getting to the NHL on another team? I mean, the Flyers aren't exactly the deepest team when it comes to AHL call-ups, but maybe he thinks another team might put him higher on the depth chart and he wants to be moved?
- jmatchett383

I don't see how this is a good way to force a trade by refusing to sign the Q offer. If he wants to be moved, all he has to do is ask, and the Flyers would likely accomadate him if they can make a good trade. Maybe that's already happened. Who knows. But I don't see what leverage Manning has in any scenario.

He really has no leverage, but athletes aren't always the most self-aware human beings on the planet. But again....just conjecture about Manning.

I hope the hold up is just trivial and not something more.

That's part of the reason why athletes have agents. And you're right, it is conjecture. I know that's all I can offer.

Beat me to it, athletes may not be the most informed, but agents are. I figure it has to be something trivial.

That wording made my heart skip a beat when I read this the first time.
I fully expected it to be more like

Why is my brain thinking like this?

- JAKEw1234

It's obviously Pavlovian Conditioning to KNOW that injuries will occur for this team... And thus your brain's immediate re-wording... But you aren't alone I held my breath through the same sentence.

I'm still trying to cope with Girouxs injury. Like, how does that even happen?

HAS to be stupidity. Seriously. In my head I'm imagining he smacked it high up on the shaft near the grip on something much harder in rage or frustration. Clubs usually break by the head... You have to do something especially stupid for that injury. And you can't tell me that millionare Giroux is playing with a set of crap clubs.
Maybe this is all just a cover story and he got it in a knife fight... Cuz that's his hobby. Back-alley knife fighting in the offseason.
Believeable. Right?

I play a lot of golf, and neither me nor anyone I golf with has ever heard of anything likt this happening on a normal attempt at a shot. I can only believe that he hit the ground in anger.

Reporter: So what do you have planned for this off-season, Giroux?
Giroux: I'm going to learn how to catch arrows.
(Reporter laughs)
Giroux: No really!

Rumor has it he is actually an up and comer in the developing sport of tusk-cropping. He wrestles animals with tusks into submission and saws off their tusks to sell on the whysitalwaysgottabe Black Market. This time a Narwhal got the best of him....
