This

Now everyone who thinks we are just retooling, (frank) off!!!!!!!!

I also wouldn't rule out Brossoit from making noise but he too needs 2 more years in AHL/ECHL. I think Berra is the one that is going to be surprising good.

- Kevin R

I agree with all of this especially the (frank) off part

Wasn't Phaneuf another players wife?
- Iggysbff

I responded to the guy that said Vernon F'd somebodies wife, so yes, rumour was it was Regehr's wife I think? Can't remember for sure because I don't really take that talk seriously.

Gotta love the other teams fans who hop in here and think they know more about the Flames than the fans/bloggers for the team. They hear one blurb on TSN and that's that.

I do agree...its going to be a rough year for them with so many new faces but if a few of them pan out, they could surprise a few. They will need Ramo, Baertschi, Backlund and Brodie to step up their games if they plan on staying out of the basement.

Though actually competing this year doesnt bode well for many as they hope to draft high again, its a healthy environment to develop on a rebuilding team.

Colin a little while ago I was roasted for calling out the flames development staff compared to other big market teams. Are you confident in the staff the flames have to develop the youngsters properly? Flames are one of my favs but theyve got to have one of the weakest staff in the nhl. Not only that but a lot of the guys there have been with the organization since the early 90s. They haveno winning culture and add ken king I'm not sure how they intend to right the ship with so man moldy boards holding it together.

There's no development coach, no director of player personnel, no sport psychologist... there's a few guys that are doing multiple tasks but again weisbrod aside I'm not confident these guys are going to train and prepare the draftees and future draftees like they should. Calgary has had a terrible track record at developing their yputh let alone playing them in the proper roles.

Therrien limited the rooks to 12 mins a gamr, he claims the develop better thst way. What are fans expecting from the young guns? 20+ mins??

Tough to say given that most of these guys will be put to the test for the first time. But rememeber, when Feaster came in, so did a few new faces including Weisbrod and Conroy. So a little hard to say as I havnt focused too much attention on the Flames personnel tbh.

I would be worried, with 2 unproven goalies you have to be nervous. but really who cares even hasek in his prime couldn't help them make playoffs. No retooling, a full out rebuild is needed.

Fck are you a donkey!

On another note...nice read Colin.

Where on the radar is laurent brossoit? After the prospect camp, it seemed like it would be between him and Ortio backing up the Heat.

Buddy, you gotta let this go. We have sports psychologists, we have people in these positions, we have decent staff. How can you make such a statement??? Maybe under the Sutter regime but that is going on 3 years ago. Why hammer on this, you are flat out wrong. Flames are quite capable of properly developing young players. Brodie & Backlund are great examples of our draft picks who are starting to make their marks in the last 2 years. How can you state Flames have the weakest staff in the league? That's just a bunch of bunk!!

I have often had the same worries as him. I think it was during on the the streamed prospect games Conroy was talking about the "development process" and how they need to improve as well. If Weisbrod is drafting guys with more potential room...(Jankowski, Poirier, Kanzig, Roy), then our developers better be doing a darn fine job.

Though a lot of it has to do with the farm system available to said players in addition to the coaching staff. And lets say I think the Heat make for a good development team
