We keep Miller and Vanek. Myers plays well, Leino stays healthy and we sign Grabovski, we can compete. - sbroads24
ahhhh geez who knows, they could do, it would be an amazing miracle based on the previous 100+ years of hockey, but you never know, always good to be optimistic which I think we all are initially going into a season, I try to be. |

Landeskog was also the #2 overall pick as well as the youngest captain in league history. Not to mention he brings other intangibles that Hodgson does not bring ie. Leadership, physicality, defensive prowess.. if you pay Hodgson more then $4m that is an overpayment. |

His draft day weigh in was 5'11 1/2 and 183 lbs. And really the KHL? Like it or not at the moment he's our number one center..
Also Girgensons for captain |

I love you people. Hodgson had the 2nd most points, ppg and shg for the $abre$ last season. The only thing ne needs to improve on is his faceoff ability, yet you want to run him out to Siberia.

sabres that improved the most last season IMO
Coho
Weber
Flynn, if you can call it an improvement. He did prove he belongs in the NHL

I agree except you're missing one and added in a wrong name. As far as taking a step back goes, I think McNabb's name should be in there given what we've come to hope/expect from him.
I also don't think Foligno should really be in the step back category. I think people have this vision of him being the next Iginla based on his 15 games in 2012. He's projected a 3rd line forward and he performed accordingly. In the final 10 games in the season he also showed his versatility when moved to the centre position (though I admit it's only 10 games).
I'm also fairly certain he was our best two way forward. I agree the physical aspect was brought a notch down but it's usually tough for guys like Foligno to find a balance between aggressiveness and recklessness.
I noticed at the beginning of the year he was all over the place in terms of physicality which is nice and all but it lead to a lot of un-necessary roughing/unsportsmanlike penalties. Another thing to consider is given his value (or projected value) to the team, you probably don't want a guy like Foligno constantly being taken out of the play because he's fighting guys like matt kassian.

He was playing with vanek so his points were inflated and he has to work on a lot more than his faceoffs. He's one of the worst defensive forwards I've seen and he's way too soft - MattDuchene9
His points were inflated? So every Colorado player's points are inflated because they all play with other great Colorado forwards.
Got it. |

It's like Kunitz's points were inflated from playing with Crosby. You could see hodgson wasn't really pulling his own weight |

Devils advocate, he also played against the other teams best defensemen and defensive forwards. I'm sure there are worse defensive forwards but given how he was scouted as a two way forward I see your point. |

If you breakdown the numbers, Hodgson without Vanek had close to the same offensive output as he did with Vanek. |

So could Craig Adams produce as many points if he was playing with Crosby? Probably not. You still have to be good enough to make plays. |

Yeah Kunitz is a second line forward. He was actually a third on Anaheim. But since he was playing with Crosby he was putting up over a PPG. Same with pascal Dupuis. That's why I said his points were inflated |
