Well, Gelinas is an assistant coach, this helps. Conroy is Special Assistant to Feaster. Also considering our Director of player personnel is Weisbrod: "Prior to joining the Flames, Weisbrod was part of the Boston Bruins Stanley Cup championship team in 2011 where he was the Director of pro and collegiate scouting since joining the organization in September of 2006."

Long story short, I'm not worried about our player development as much as our player management.

gelinas is good. the "special assistant" job is a joke. what does he do? but none are really proven winners. Ill give it to you weisbrod is an asset, still to me theres to many unknowns and if you look deeper into the flames staff, they are all guys who have been there since the ealry 90s. so what kind of winning culture do they bring? not to mention, theres seems to be many holes missing when it comes to development.

plenty of teams around the league are deep with development coachs and ex player staff.

ill use the habs cause i know them best. they just shuffled the cupboard last year and brought in 5 ex players. 2 more players in ethan moreau and donald audette for scouting, 7 in total. but the habs are certainly not the only ones with plenty of veteran coachs and vet players in their coaching staffs.

Seems you are cherry picking your reasons a bit here. For example, Moreau is not "really a proven winner" as you put it. Also, he is a scout so he will have zero interaction with the youth on the NHL/AHL squad.

Dude, what is your point? Your squaking about having the correct people to surround the player with such as vets you wouldd need on a team and then you go on about development personnel. Ready or not we develope how we can. You make it sound like we should toss our prospects back to the draft because we dont have the right people. Are you scout or player developer? If not, then what do you know?

okok uyoure right i was reaching a bit. ive lost where i was going with this haha. my point was im all for rookies getting the jump to the nhl. that said i think it becomes more of a sure thing when the rookie is surrounded with people who have been there, who show a good structure and has clear development paths for the rookie. in the end you dont want the rookie to stray too much.

where i strayed and lost credibility with my previous post, i became to hostile and homer ish . haha sorry. ive lived more than half my life in calgary, so i feel i can comment on it.

personally i have no faith in the flames hockey operations. look at the flames history of developing players... last 10 years say... pretty piss poor. and now we are confident they will be able to handle the pressure of developing a stud like monahan? practicly the same bunch of guys, going to build the same type of flames. i have np with feaster, dont mind hartley and his staff, but (frank) get some more coachs and trainers in there to get the team motivated more... the habs have 9 dr's haha, a devopment coach. wheres mngment not fully investing in developing their rookies!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think you know much about the Flames. Crappy last 10 years on developing? Absolutely. But it's a new regime. Feaster has spent a lot of time into adding to the scouting and developing system.
He hired more scouts around the world, including one just this past week that is a bridge scout between Europe and NA (whatever that entails). He brought in the PUCKS system and top analyst. Hell, he's even brought in skating coaches, dieticians and frickin' sleep doctors.
Your arguement is past history. Now, moving forward.

Gelinas is a winner, I believe he has at least 1 ring, Hartley too, Conroy has lots of playoff experience , not sure where that comes from. A rebuild is what it is & it means you are re establishing a core if management were too stupid & not proactive with assets. Calgary clearly is a great example of hanging to core players way too long. Therefore, we really have no core players left, we have pieces we hope will evolve into our future core but right now, that's about it. We are going to pay the price. I'm more concerned with whether Backlund & Brodie take the next step to our future core this year than whether Monahan plays 10 games or all year. If its all year, he'll be a Calder candidate & we'll be pretty pumped about him.
