I cannot believe there is doubt that this team can't contend for a Cup. One year ago with desperate signing like Ruslan Fededanko and Bruno Gervais I knew the past season's team would be garbage. This team couldn't be more of a different story. Lecavalier is an easy upgrade over Briere, both in skill and physical tools. This season should also see Brayden Schenn, Sean Couturier, Matt Read and Erik Gustafsson take huge steps. There is nolonger a sophomore jinx to hide behind. Mark Streit's offensive skill sets are pretty flashy, he will be exciting to watch. More then half the roster are tough guys. I don't see how anyone cannot be excited for the upcoming season. Hopefully the team can give it their all for Kimmo Timonen.

I think you can be excited for the upcoming Season, while also being realistic. It's not a guarantee that any of those players take those huge steps. There was nothing wrong with the Fedetenko and Gervais signings. And they had the roster last year to be a playoff team. A lot has to happen. And if you make the playoffs, anything can happen. But realistically, they.re not a contender going in. But you never know.
