They can to the KHL...
That being said, I highly doubt Yakupov goes anywhere. But that doesn't mean that he can't. - Leafs43

What people told you this? Yeah, the Pronger thing was bad, but who since? I don't believe that Edmonton is such a rough destination to get pros to play in. It's part of it but mostly about winning.players from Ontario and Onward East like the East so mom and dad and grandpa can see them play. I get that. Some players want sunshine and to be anonymous and I get that too. Some players( the ones we want) just want to win, above all else, which is why they sign with Detroit and not Florida. The day will arrive when big name players that want to win are calling Mac T in July .hopefully anyway. - Jeropotato
Heatley and Nylander. Hossa apparently turned down a huge payday to come here but definitely made the right move for his career going to Chicago. |

Yes then theres Schultz you'll have to also pay...and Nurse...you have to think about the future...regardless if Nurse is far in the future or not...you need to keep cap space available for such a player - annoyance_101
If it does come down to it one day, we'll deal them for other great assets. Either way its not much of a concern at this point. |

No, you said "stay", meaning that all UFA's ( or at least the ones we want to resign) wanna bolt as soon the deal is up. There was some of that after the run to the cup, but I do t remember anyone else.if that's not what you meant rather we have trouble attracting them, you are correct. But I think winning will change that considerably.having said that, the Oil need to prove they are on the verge of greatness before they get much attention. In all honesty though, aside from may e a goalie ( big maybe) and a no1 D, we don't need to attract a star player anyway.just proven veteran role players. |

I think we'll be fine without a big UFA signing. A #1 defenseman would be nice right now but I think we'll be ok developing what we have in a couple years. Our highest priority should be a big banging 3rd line winger that can add some secondary scoring. A guy that could drop the gloves with the big boys would be good too. Possibly another center depending on how Gordon and Lander perform this year. |

I'm with you there. It's possible that Klefbom and Schultz are less that 24 months away from being a legit top pair.still no way of knowing where Petry's ceiling is either. Kinda hard to believe he has less than 2 full Seasons under his belt. |

Petry is becoming a good shutdown guy with less offense than we had originally hoped for. It might be because he's been paired with Smid the same way Smid developed being paired with Staios. We had hoped for more of an offensive upside with him as well. |

I see Petry as a #3D on a good team. 25-30P yearly and the ability to slide up to the top pairing when injuries happen. |

How much PP time has Petry had this past season? Washe even on the 2nd unit. I don't remember seeing him there very much. |

I hope so but his offense took a backseat last season as he played more of the shutdown role with Smid. |

Plus, living in Edmonton, I have become quite accustomed to sharing pain like a pitcher of beer.
I've also mastered deflecting criticism the way that a cricketer deflects 5.5 ounces of cork and leather with 3 pounds of willow... |

Yeah... Annoyance definitely lives up to his name in our forums as well.
On the bright side, in a few years Gillis will make sure that it's the Nucks who are fighting to prop up the rest of the league |

The problem I've got with some Oilers fans and most Toronto fans is that when you suggest something, you get a response of "you're stupid go away" without any explanation or constructive criticism of my comments, which i can handle...this site is for talking hockey...not for calling people stupid for making suggestions...whether the suggestions are far out there or not...
And that last comment coming from a leafs fan makes me laugh, feeling big now that you finally got to embarrass yourself in the playoffs for the first time in the last decade? |
