I really hope MOAT chimes in with his opinion of Brian Boucher soon to turn the tide of the poll.

As resquested, the Flyers top 10 line combos

1. The LCB line: Barber-Clarke-Leach 1974-1976
In 75-76 this line put up numbers that have never been matched by any line in Flyers history and very few lines in NHL history except for those with Gretzky or Lemieux. 140 goals! Leach scored 61 times; Clarke had 89 assists and 118 points and Barber chipped in 50 goals and 112 points. Clarke won his 3rd Hart trophy and both he and Barber were 1st team all stars, Leach had to settle for being a 2nd team all star, finishing behind only Guy Lafleur.

2. The Legion of Doom: Leclair-Lindros-Renberg 1995-1996
Physically dominant, this line was virtually unstoppable during the 1995 lockout season and the 1st half of 95-96 prior to Renberg's injury. All 3 were highly skilled and it was basically impossible to stop their cycle down low. There were many games where they simply looked like men against boys.

3. Propp-Poulin-Kerr mid 80s
Great combo of skill, size and smarts, the best line of the Keenan era

4. Leclair-Lindros-Recchi
Didn't get to play together much and Leclair was already past his peak, but this could still dominate from time to time and was a great combo of size and skill

5. Leclari-Lindros-Jones
Sensing a pattern yet? Lindros was just that good and when paired with Leclair htey were amazing!

6. Lonsberry-Macleish-Dornhoeffer
The 2nd best line of the Bullies era. Macleish would have been a #1 center on most teams and Lonsberry is one of the most underrated forwards in Flyers history.

7. Hartnell-Giroux-Jagr
THe addition of Jagr took Giroux to the next level.

8. Gagne-FOrsberg-Knuble
For the short time Foppa was healthy, this line was awesome!

9. Hartnell-Giroux-Voracek
Can't wait to see how this line performs with a healthy and in shape Hartnell.

10. Propp-Eklund-Tocchet

Just missed the cut:
Schultz-Kindrachk-Saleski
Barber-Clarke-Sittler
Gagne-Primeau-Recchi
Fedyk-Lindros-Rechhi
Leina-Briere-Hartnell
Propp-Linseman-Holmgren

regardless of the disparity of opinions that may result from your rankings, this is an excellent post

Shjon Poedin is one of my favorite Flyers. One dude you could always count on to never give up on a play.

I was just thinking about it, and since 2000 we have had some awesome PKers..

Betts
Handzus
Kapanen
Laperriere
Gagne
Richards
Powe
and the list could go on....

If I had to pick 2 units...

Richards-Gagne.... they could shut it down, and score the shorties.
Betts-Laperiere... No-one could get a shot through on these guys..

things have been laughable anymore. i dont know why it had such an impact on me, but that game against the giants in which hamels started and was pissed away really did a number on me as a fan

What do I know, I voted for Esche.
- Jsaquella

i did too, even though cechmanek was clearly the best statistically, and boucher is a fan favorite. i loved esche, and that 2004 team is my 2nd favorite all time, so he's my guy.

Loved Richards on the PK.

He might be one of the best PK guys I've ever seen in a Flyers uniform and they've had some good ones.

He could anticipate a pass better than anyone I've ever seen, and usually had enough acceleration to break free.

I was working in Avalon that day. When that happened, the guy whose house I was in cursed and threw his beer...hitting his nice big HDTV and causing grievous damage to it...I sort of left after that, as he wasn't in a talking mood

Explain playoffs of 2001/02? Cechmanek had 1.85 gaa .936 s% and had 1 win thanks in part to a Flyers offense that produced 2 goals in 5 games. Roman's fault?
- biloxijay

I looked back on some of the box scores from the playoff series against Ottawa in 2002.

I genuinely forgot how good (and deep) those early 2000's Ottawa teams were.

3 - Zdeno Chara
4 - Chris Phillips
5 - Sami Salo
6 - Wade Redden
7 - Curtis Leschyshyn
9 - Martin Havlat
11 - Daniel Alfredsson
12 - Mike Fisher
14 - Radek Bonk
15 - Shawn Mceachern
16 - Jody Hull
18 - Marian Hossa
20 - Marcus Arvedson
25 - Chris Neil
26 - Benoit Brunet
28 - Todd White
34 - Shane Hnidy
35 - Jani Hurme
36 - Juha Ylonen

To me it's a no-brainer to pick Cechmanek. Two Bobby Clarke Trophies and a Vezina finalist season did it. He had consistency issues in the playoffs but was mostly the victim of a lack of goal support. There were only three playoff starts of his that were truly horrendous, but two of them were in elimination games.

that 8-0 game against buffalo was so bad that abc pulled the game and switched it mid-way. spared me from the total pain.

4 - Chris Phillips - scored a Stanley-Cup winning goal
6 - Wade Redden - the most expensive AHL player ever
9 - Martin Havlat -wussy
25 - Chris Neil - still hoping he gets his one day
40 - Patrick Lalime - the biggest bust since Jim Carey

IDK who Thatcher Demko is, but as far as competing with Stollie right now it's not looking good. Vs. sweden today 2 shots on goal, 2 goals allowed (not sure if they were soft of not)

When the team scores 2 goals in 5 games, like the Flyers did in Cechmanek's 2nd year, then it ain't the goalie
- Jsaquella

The big change was the arrival of Hitchcock. The same skaters who scored 2 goals in 5 games that year produced a lot more in the next two playoffs.

His attention to defense meant the Flyers only scored 2 goals every 8 games, yet they yielded an average of -2 goals per game.

Would you take this line over the Betts/Lappy/...(Powe?) line in 09/10?

Hitchcock was the coach for 2002-03, when they lost in round two to Ottawa.

And the 2004 playoff team was a lot different from the 2002 one. And if Keith Primeau's jumping from 2 points in 13 games in 2003 to what he did in 2004 was Cechmanek;s fault, then MoAT is 1000% correct in his hatred of Primeau.

No brainer! Absolutely. And no offense to Betts or Lappy. But Betts was not Joel Otto, and Podein was one of the best defensive Wingers in Hockey at the time. Love the heart and soul that Lappariere brang to the ice. But that line doesn't compare to the Otto line in my opnion.

That's my thinking, I was just wondering.

Side question, would you switch out Klatt for Lappy?
