As resquested, the Flyers top 10 line combos

1. The LCB line: Barber-Clarke-Leach 1974-1976
In 75-76 this line put up numbers that have never been matched by any line in Flyers history and very few lines in NHL history except for those with Gretzky or Lemieux. 140 goals! Leach scored 61 times; Clarke had 89 assists and 118 points and Barber chipped in 50 goals and 112 points. Clarke won his 3rd Hart trophy and both he and Barber were 1st team all stars, Leach had to settle for being a 2nd team all star, finishing behind only Guy Lafleur.

2. The Legion of Doom: Leclair-Lindros-Renberg 1995-1996
Physically dominant, this line was virtually unstoppable during the 1995 lockout season and the 1st half of 95-96 prior to Renberg's injury. All 3 were highly skilled and it was basically impossible to stop their cycle down low. There were many games where they simply looked like men against boys.

3. Propp-Poulin-Kerr mid 80s
Great combo of skill, size and smarts, the best line of the Keenan era

4. Leclair-Lindros-Recchi
Didn't get to play together much and Leclair was already past his peak, but this could still dominate from time to time and was a great combo of size and skill

5. Leclair-Lindros-Jones
Sensing a pattern yet? Lindros was just that good and when paired with Leclair htey were amazing!

6. Lonsberry-Macleish-Dornhoefer
The 2nd best line of the Bullies era. Macleish would have been a #1 center on most teams and Lonsberry is one of the most underrated forwards in Flyers history.

7. Hartnell-Giroux-Jagr
THe addition of Jagr took Giroux to the next level.

8. Gagne-Forsberg-Knuble
For the short time Foppa was healthy, this line was awesome!

9. Hartnell-Giroux-Voracek
Can't wait to see how this line performs with a healthy and in shape Hartnell.

10. The Rat Patrol: Propp-Linseman-Holmgren
By popular request, I have bumped this line into my top 10. Great combo of skill, toughness and general nastiness, this was an excellent line for the orange and black in the early 80s

Just missed the cut:
Schultz-Kindrachuk-Saleski
Barber-Clarke-Sittler
Gagne-Primeau-Recchi
Fedyk-Lindros-Rechhi
Leino-Briere-Hartnell
Propp-Eklund-Tocchet

He'd have his off moments/games like any goaltender, but he was more often a difference-maker in net than not, and you really can't say that about any of the other Flyers goalies of the 2000's. Niitty had some moments, and Bob did early on as well, but for three straight seasons, Cecho was consistently great.
- Tomahawk

I mostly agree with you, but I do think you're overselling Cechmanek and what he did here.

Cechmanek had a couple great REGULAR seasons but in the playoffs he was about as abysmal as Bryzgalov........

You cant be serious?

these are his stats in the playoffs with the Flyers ..
First year, not great but thats as much do to the fact that the team gave up to 6 goals games if I remember right.
Second year..amazing states
Final year: solid stats

A bunch of babies couldn't handle the truth, so it was easier to ship him out than deal with the real issues.
- Scoob

They shipped him out and he only played another 49 NHL games, so they did well to get a 2nd round pick back.

And they did much better in 03-04 with Esche in goal than they did in the three previous seasons.

Rat Patrol definitely should be in the Top 10.

And for whatever reason, I was never as enamored of Keith Jones on the big line as everyone else seems to be.

I still love when Chechmanek called out the team during the playoffs. He wasn't wrong in doing so. Unfortunately the forwards and defense who set a modern day futility playoff record for offense were not amused and it was easier to get rid of 1 guy than to deal with pissing off the guys who were the real problem.
- Flyers_01

If those guys were the real problem, why did the team do better with Cechmanek gone?

Much better? They won 1 more round in 2003-04 than they did in 2002-03. They also had a better team, especially on defense, before the injuries really piled up

Actually, Bobrovsky's positioning was actually a weak spot when he was here. He made himself small in the net. And he had to overcome that issue to improve to the level that he played at last Season.
And as far as attitude. Bryzgalov didn't handle the situation very well in terms of the play in front of him. He got spun out, and it affected him. Which was a big factor in his play here.

I wasn't as big a fan of Jones either, but any line with Leclair and Lindros was an excellent line.

The Rat Patrol could easily be in the top 10. IMHO any of the honorable mentions are just about as good as #7-10 on my list. Just as the top 2 lines on the list are way ahead of the pack!

For goalies I went with Cechmanek and Biron. Cechmanek was by far the best on the list, his stats say it all and Biron was an important factor in the club bouncing back and getting to the conference final in 2008.

All in all though, it's a pretty sorry bunch!

I was a Keith Jones fan, but he really didn't belong on that line. They carried him along and even made him into a decent goal scorer. I beleive he had 20 something goals one season playing with Lindros.

I also don't feel that the Hartnell/Giroux/Jagr line belongs in the top 10.

It makes me crazy to look back on how they tried to just "make due" on that line after Renberg was gone.
