Lindros was a fierce fighter. Capable of taking on and handling any player in the League in a fight.
- MJL

My most memorable Lindros encounter was when he threw the big body check near the Leafs blue line taking out two guys in the process.. Next thing you know he is being challenged by Karpotsev... later on was the infamous Tie Domi ducking Richardson and McCarthy incident... PUKE

No Love for Riley Cote? Although, he deserves a spot on both lists... He gave his heart (and face) to the team, choose the right times to fight, and would fight anyone. On the other hand he often lost.

The other honorable mention should be "the Fridge". He wasn't the greatest fighter, but I thought he had a nice balance of having a screw loose and picking the right times to fight... Well, maybe not his last fight - after a long shift he got his butt kicked by an old-timer (forgot who)? After that he was traded. I thought he was unfairly judged by that one fight. Well, I guess there was the other fight where he broke his eye bone.

Always thought Riley Cote as being a waste of a roster spot back in the day. Carcillo was a much mroe exciting replacement.

Two good names you mention, but I'm not sure who you'd remove from the "Bottom 5" list to replace them.

Fridge could throw'em a bit. He had some high profile losses, but he could certainly go.

Cote will always have Andre Roy.

BRANTT MHYRES! Dude had 169 PIM in 23 games. That's 7.3 PIM/game.
And, um, Phil Crowe.

It was Gary Roberts. He was talking smack and backed down from Laraque, so Gary Roberts beat the living iced tea out of him. That was the 8-2, Crosby-takes-out Biron game.

Gary Roberts was a tough dude, fwiw.

It's not like Fridge got beat up by someone who wasn't familiar with fighting.

I've never understood the vitriolic hate for Cote. He was always a hard worker, team-first player, and overall class guy.

Cote wasn't that great of a fighter, but he was always willing. My beef with the guy is that he really didn't seem to have a modicum of skill at ice hockey.

Naturally, it's more fun writing that under the cloak of a nom de blog than actually saying it to Cote's face, because, apparently, he is probably in better shape now than when he played and would probably rearrange my face.

No, it was 07/08. It was the Umberger/Lupul double hat trick night.
Carter fought Letang (and Umberger fought someone), Smith slashed Crosby's wrists which prompted he and Armstrong to fight the next game. Biron challenged Crosby to a fight, which prompted Laraque to submarine him. It was the game that really ignited the rivalry.

He was also bad at playing professional hockey. I'll give him credit that he served a purpose as a fighter, and he'd willingly fight anyone. But he just wasn't good at playing NHL-level hockey past fighting.

I thought Daniel Lacroix was a better enforcer than linemate Kordic. His win over Jovanovski was hysterical. Jovo tied up Lacroix's right hand, not knowing Lacroix was a leftie. Lacroix then sent him to Venus.

Lacroix said something like this after the game, "He tied up my wrong hand and I hit him and hit him until he wasn't there anymore."

Cote wasn't very talented as a player. But he never hurt the team. He was responsible defensively, and constantly worked on the little things such as positioning on the ice. His work ethic was second to none. I had no problem with Riley Cote on the team.
