orr is proven what? 4th line fighter who sits 1/3 of the season and plays 3-6 mins the other nights?
fraser plays more minutes, harder minutes, and fights. he should make at least as much as Orr IMO. - big_dion
Orr has has proven that he can do that over more than 48 games. |

#Leafs D Mark Fraser has avoided salary arbitration, agreeing to 1 yr deal worth $1,275M. - BingoLady
Love it. Wish we signed Franson ahead of gunner though |

Franson should have been the first Dman we should have signed.

lol
all good, liles is on his way out, or sadly, we dont sign franson and if thats the case i hope we get a good player(prospect) in return. - big_dion
Leafs managements next moves:
1. Trade Liles for anything you can get (hopefully a decent prospect or 2nd/3rd rounder).
2. Sign Franson for the money and term that Liles was making.
3. Sign Kadri to the remaining pot of gold.
4. Extend Kessel with a 2 mil raise that opens up with the Asmstrong and Tucker buyouts off the books next season.
5. Extend Phaneuf with a 1 mil reduction in his contract...(or trade him). |

McQuaid's at 1.55 so Fraser at 1.275 is probably not too far off. They might have done better with the arbitrator but historically those rulings are high so they may have overpaid by a bit to avoid the risk of some crazy arb ruling that they can't walk away from. |

for putting that guy down and he said 1.3 is quite accurate.
obviously 1.275 is quite fitting for fraser, if you still disagree, well then take it up with nonis and the boys. |

exactly.
like i said, fraser brings more to the table than say orr who makes 1 million.
more minutes, harder minutes, and also fights. |

I'm happy they made something work for both sides. Fraser is an Ontario boy and I'm sure he wanted to remain here. So obviously we now either lose Liles or Franson. Some would argue that the Leafs would move Phaneuf - I don't think they would at this time but anything is possible. So as for JML and Franson I could see potential suitors in Col, NJ, Van, Buf and also longshot maybe Tampa. I think JML is still a very effective player offensively if hes given the opportunity. |

I don't think it is, looking at the comparable...... but yeah, all signings are supposed to be agreed to by the fans?? WTF kind of statement is that? You've agreed with every single thing they've done?? |

1. Not sure why everyone thinks Liles is going to be traded, if he is it wont be until mid season.
2. Franson will probably sign a 1 - 2 year deal worth 3.75 - 4 million, probably just one. So he can score big when the leafs have another 6 - 8 million in cap space next season
3. Kadri shouln't get anymore than 3 right now. One inconsistent decent half season, not really more than 3.
4. Kessel will get 7.5 - 8.25 per -
5. Phaneuf will not be signed for less than he is making now. |

The Leafs won't be able to fit Franson into the cap fold unless they free up space. That is why we all suspect JML of being traded. Otherwise Frason would have to go. |

Assuming they carry 7 dmen and 13 forwards - they have 5.3 million to get Kadri and Franson signed. I think Kadri signs for a year or two at about 2.5ish so that leaves about 2.8 for Franson. He should take it on a 1 year deal and look to get the big contract next summer but I'm sure he's pushing hard for the big contract now. If so then Nonis needs to find a way to move Liles to create that cap space now. |

i havnt agreed, no, but to sit here and complain over 200k isnt worth it.
he signed right where he fit for a 5-6 d man at his age with what he brings each night.
are you upset he is signed for 1.275?
id rather fraser over liles, who makes 3.875...

Don't bother - they obviously either didn't watch the games or havn't seen the stats. The guy was a +18, hard working, shot blocking, team mate defending brute. +18 in 45 games really speaks to the level of effort he exerted. |
