Cody Franson is a happy camper seeing what Bogosian got. Bogo's best yr is 5g+25a 2yrs ago in 65gm while Franson had 4g+25a in 45gm this yr

I think there is away to really soften his next contract's cap hit but its going to be a lot of money over a long term. next year he gets 6.5mill no questions asked, but if its over a 7-8 year deal, you can +/- salary by 35% from year to year and the greatest difference b/w the years in total from highest to lowest cant be more than 50%.

6.5/5.85/5.3/4.7/4.3/3.8/3.4/3.2 so from my understanding if you rolled back his salary every year by 10% you can bring his next contract to something like 37m over 8 years. Chances are he will never take it but if he really likes playing for Roy and wants to be an Av long term, he might buy in. Players have done crazier things

Crazy - last December he was a maybe to make the top 6 and some of us were okay with the idea that he just stay in Europe.

He played much better last year, but ....

- simple defensive assignments;
- still skates like a baby deer;

I'm not saying he's not what he appears to be, but it'd sure be nice to have a larger sample size before paying him like a top 4 ....let alone a top pairing guy.

Jets just screwed the Leafs with that Bogo contract. Franson gets 5 mill per now for sure... Fraser probably 1.5 mill...
