Tee-dot, if you have been Jon-Michael Liles this whole time, I strongly suggest you start packing your bags.

Really puzzled by this as well, if horcoff can be dumped to dallas for free, why couldn't liles or grabo right?
- Mapleleafs_91

hmm, ya guess that's fair. 2 yrs left vs 4 though I suppose... and Horcoff's more reliable defensively, better veteran presence?

Fraser will be a Leaf next season as the Leafs cannot walk away from his salary if it's less than 3.5. But if you are able to remove the games that Holzer played with Phaneuf, As a 6th D-Man is there much of a difference between Holzer and Fraser. Besides the fighting I would suggest they're very similar.

no one in their right mind would think Ben Conz is a good prospect. Where did you read such absurdities!?!

Some hack blogger used the leaf symbol to get hits

The thing with Reimer is that when he broke into the league, his rebound control was one of the things I really liked about his game.

If he can rediscover that, then we're in business

- AngryWhiteMale

I ve never like it always thought it was sub par, but everyone has an opinion or this site would be boring.

meh -worst case scenario they trade Franson for excellent return.
...well on 2nd though I suppose worst case is they sign him for $5M per and he doesn't play like last year...

there was simply no trade market for Grabo or Liles prior to July 5th - nobody would tie up that kind of cap space before they knew the market or how they did.

- Big_Lightnin

then i guess they should have showcased grabo a bit, you know, if you know your going to dump your 5.5 million dollar center...just a thought.

i am obvi a big grabo supporter, but to think that neither of these guys could be moved with a "meh" prospect is just insane...

i think nonis blew it on this front, where he has done well on some others. just my 2 cents.

The fact he was traded with no salary retained or coming back should make MacT GM of the decade.

yup, and Holzer's a significantly better skater, just still learning. Fraser's got more experience and plays within his limitations. Once Holzer figures that out, he'll be a good bottom pair guy. And he's not afraid to fight if asked. Big boy

If the arbitrator awards more than 3.5, you can walk away from the contract, however, if its less, ie. 2.00 mil, the team is stuck with the contract.

I could see Bernier being the starter by game 20. I like Reimer but there is a reason Bernier was drafted 11th overall and Reims was 99th, in the same draft.Unless Bernier really faulters, i think its his net to lose already
- TonkaPhaneuf

Henrik Lundqvist was drafted 205th overall the same year that Rick DiPietro went 1st overall. goalies are the hardest players to judge in their draft years.

Just stating the CBA rules, not suggesting he will come close to that figure

We will take Liles back, but only for a low end prospect and low pick, kind of painted yourself into a corner with your cap space

I'm still a little surprised they never tried moving Grabo to Kadri's wing around mid-season when it became obvious Kadri needed top 6 minutes, and Grabo wasn't benefitting from a checking role.

kept them together on the PP all year, and that clearly worked... why not make them a line?

then go Komarov-McClement-Kulemin as 3rd?

never made sense to me.

Could argue grabo brings more to the table for the same price as well
