pretty simple.

It's like people forget, Fraser wasn't even supposed to be on this team last year. If any of us had suggested Fraser would be a leaf in 2012/13 during the lockout, the first response would be great, we're getting McKinnon. Hell, we all had 4 or 5 guys ahead of Fraser on our depth charts. We're a team in flux, improving yes, but we're not there yet. And the last thing I want to do is give into this sense of entitlement. Fraser was awesome last year, I admire his work ethic, but that's not to say that another guy in our organization can't fight for a spot or do the same job. We won't know until training camp.

That was pretty much my line of thinking.

I like Frazer, but not enough to put up with this crap, he got a good +/- on a 3rd pairing in a shortened season.

I think goaltending will be good enough that we can afford to let organizational depth fill in the cracks

- AngryWhiteMale

We have blacker and ranger to fill in his spot.

There is no statistical data showing Bozak and Kessel "working well together". you are talking out your ass if you believe that, and I dont care if they make a good xbox 360 team. Bozak wins 1 or 2 more draws a game than Grabovski. the limited stats show Kessel had better success in regards to production when with Grabovski.

My pref was to lose both of them and Sign a FA like Lecavalier, I am not a Grabvoski fan, but if you make me pick between him and Bozak its a no brainer.

- senstroll

Well poop you shoulda told Randy that before he had Nonis buy Grabo out...

1 or 2 more wins on the draw are important.

I would have Gunnar at #4 on that list based on last season and 7 playoff games, but admittedly it was a shortened season and only 1 series. This year will be the true test.
- 1979AD

Ya, he took alot of heat from fans and to be honest I don't completely understand it. He was getting the tough defensive assignments, was tapped first by RC on the PK and played pretty well in spite of a hip injury. The guy could barely pivot at times.

With Franson, Gardiner and Phaneuf in the top 4 the Leafs need a healthy defense-first guy Gunnarson. If it were me I'd be looking to add another guy just like him.

You gotta ask yourself this as well, with the puck to his head, will he be the same player? Will he block shots or shy away? Will he even fight, if he gets a punch to the area he got the puck shot wouldn't that damage it further? Alot of questions and especially if hes asking for 2M, he is not worth the gamble one would think

I'm really pulling for Reimer to emerge as the legit no. 1 for us this year.

We can turn around and flip Bernier off for a bunch of picks/prospects and just load up the system

- AngryWhiteMale

Bernier is going to run away with the net this year it wont beclose

and it isn't necessarily a lock he's on the team this year, even after he's signed. (odds are he is, but just saying, there's a lot of young guys in camp who are "close")

I wonder mate, if Bernier fails to steal it from Reimer (Let's just leave out a Halak/Elliot thing where both are playing well and nobody is really stealing it), is he still worth a "bunch of picks/prospects." That would mean he's failed to steal the number one from two teams and is turning 25.

It's hypothetical of course. Just have to wonder, goalies usually don't net the best returns even if they are dominating. It's kind of nice to have two young goalies coming off strong seasons though for once. Instead of injury concerns and false promises of returning to 2006 forms or whatever.

he's most likely the 7th Dman this year. and should be.

he wasn't ready and put in over his head. Sheltered minutes he would have been fine.

was a good learning experience for him.

Yeah, worth a look for sure - although that pair still worries me a bit. Split them up and give them each a good stay at home guy is another option.
- The Law

I'm not so sure about splitting up, Gardiner lacks size, Franson lacks the skating. I find the less you have Franson move the puck the more effective he is. he knows where he has to be on the breakout or to back his partner up and he's a solid option in qbing the play in the offensive zone once the puck is in the zone. Gardiner made Franson's job easier, he skated the puck out of danger.....the obvious shortcoming is when we're hemmed in our own zone, but during the playoffs I found Franson rarely got tired playing with Gardiner because he didn't have to skate as much, and was more likely to be physical because he wasn't tired. meh, we'll just have to see in training camp if what they did against boston can be carried over.

I could see Bernier being the starter by game 20. I like Reimer but there is a reason Bernier was drafted 11th overall and Reims was 99th, in the same draft.
Unless Bernier really faulters, i think its his net to lose already

well last I checked you weren't he coach.

Ranger's probably in the top 6

Blacker and Holzer likely go up and down as 7th. Blacker should get NHL games this year. Needs to.

If Reimer can duplicate his playoff performance, or much of his performance from last year, then Bernie'd have to play out of this world in order for things not to be close

important when its the only real stat you can point to.

Randy is not a perfect coach, he wanted nothing to do with Lupul the first time.

Like I said before our high shots against were due to Reimer's inability to control rebounds they drop this year with Johnny B
