From the Edmonton Blogger:

18. New York Islanders - I'm still waiting for the Islanders to sacrifice one of their incredible young centers to bring in a top line winger to play with Tavares. They could have Ales Hemsky cheap if they wanted him, but I'm not sure he's the guy they're looking for.

- kear20

I'm sure Ales Hemsky isn't the guy we're looking for.

I think a lot of teams are sure of that. He's been reportedly on the block for a while yet goes nowhere. That speaks volumes.

I hit an all time low last night. I was debating on the Edmonton thread late last night about 9/11 conspiracy theories. Like those guys over there but I couldn't wrap my head around what some of them actually believe? It was like hammering a nail into a wall with my head.

Ugh...the 9/11 'thruthers'. Never before has a collection of bigger idiots been assembled. Some folks have simply watched too much television to comprehend the world of reality.

Fueled by the hatred that Canadians seem to have for American govt which I was never aware of until I joined hockeybuzz? That is excluding Obama who all Canadians seem to be enamored with for some strange reason? Maybe they hate us all just enough to like him?

It's a very liberal area (obviously). I always get a kick out of them championing their healthcare as though it were some huge success. Meanwhile our hospitals get flooded with all of their pregnant women who come here to give birth. As for Obama, I'll save my rants for a different forum, but let's just say that a lot of people are suddenly learning just how bad his healthcare plan really is this week. At somepoint people have to learn that fundamental gov ideas that work in countries with small populations will not necessarily work well in a population of 305 million.

I think he has realized it as well. The man has pretty much gone into hiding. We've hardly heard a peep from him since he began his second term.

Not true. He's been out giving speeches on the economy. It's just that no one listens anymore.

This healthcare plan is cr*p, because like everything else our government does, it's a half-a$$ed solution to a serious problem. It's a free lunch for the insurance companies- who are THE problem in the first place. As the saying goes, government isn't the solution, it's the problem....but it's the problem because the fact that it is bribed and controlled by corporations makes it useless. The "government" hasn't existed as an independent entity for at least 35 years. Our country is a fascist oligarchy- nothing is done FOR the people....unless you're talking about the people who have most of the money. They make us argue with each other over bullsh*t (abortion, gay marriage, etc.) while they steal all of the wealth right out from under us.

Until we get private money out of politics, institute term limits, and make any income above that which is necessary for basic existence (including that of corporations, and those who "earned" their money by burying their ancestors) subject to a flat tax that you simply pay, without deductions or loopholes, we are never going to fix anything, least of all health care, or our national debt. FICA, for example, needs to be paid from ALL income, not just the first $113K, or whatever. From now on, we need to pay for what ALL of what we get, so we understand how much it costs. Of course, unless the first part happens (private money out of politics), nothing will ever get fixed until our economy completely collapses...but enough about that....think happy thoughts.....LOL....

There have been more speeches on Trayvon than the economy as of late. For someone who was going to unite the races, we're pretty much as divided as ever. It was a sham to convince minorities that he knew the plight of the black man. The guy lived in Hawaii, then went to Catholic School in the 1960's, then Occidental, Harvard and Columbia...how many black people do you honestly think he was around.
Ever since television has played into politics, we've become very shallow when selecting our leaders. We have short attention spans that are easily misled by slanted media accounts (past and present). Give us a Ken doll in a suit that play saxaphone, owned a baseball team, shoots hoops and tell us he's one of us and we're all in. Add in the promise that he'll pay your mortgage, give you insurance, free cell phones and end the rhetoric in congress and folks are lining up. It's too damn easy.

Extremely stupid if him to stick his nose in that one. As far as Canadian health care I work with a resident from Winnipeg who has flown no fewer than three family members done here for procedures. One of which was borderline critical that was refused specific treatment for the procedure. You're preaching to the choir. The vast majority of people have no idea the line of shat they were sold.
