screw me once sham on me.. screw me twice sham on you? - SabresFaninIndiana
Hahaha, that too...
Minny very well might be hesitant to get screwed again by us
Could u imagine Vanek with the Sedins?
He'd prob score 50!
Pyatt had like 23 with them one year I believe
Even Stafford would blow up if he was on their line
And Vancouver has some nice forward prospects I like
We'd just have to keep (or take back) salary to make it work for them with the cap |

If this doesn't help that searing, stinging pain inside you, nothing will.
- mes418
Sorry about that. I meant to tell you about it before things got there, but one thing led to another, and the heart wants what the heart wants, and...
anyway, penicillin worked. No more stinging for me. Might want to have your doctor call it in.

vanek. the title of the blog..
I can see a 29 year old wanting to be on a contender. but the point of my post is, I don't think this team is actually that far providing a few things go right. (which is the case with building any elite team) |

hes not wrong. most teams build it all up to go for the cup trading away picks and prospects to win now then rebuild when they are completely depleted. |

Based on some of the Canucks blogs at least it seems they're aren't too keen on trading away prospects, they seem to be in less of a "win now" mode and more of a "see what happens" mode.

If a 30 goal guy's production drops when he's traded to a non-playoff team, I bet a playoff team would be willing to take him at the deadline and offer up a decent return to do so. Blame the low production on the team and bank on the past performance of the player.
Or why take the risk that a 30 goal guy could be successful here, like it here and resign here. Madness... - keptupl8
Unfortunately,
It probably is "madness" to think a guy like Moulson would re-sign here
ESP when he can still hit the jackpot as a UFA and go to a "contender"
I like your optimism,
But I just don't see it happening |

You guys should know.
I think we will be better next season than most predict. - cabin
yes.
you're way ahead of where the oilers were going into the 2010-11 season. they completely tore it down and had no one except for their recent pick in hall and a drafted eberle who was small and a total question mark. guy was picked at 22.

IMO, Vanek needs to go. The return will not be higher than it is now. Get 2 young good prospects for him and you are just generating more and more competiton and talent at the positions that should be peeking at around the same time. |

Thats just it, the Sabres dont have that really high pick that can almost be guaranteed to be a good player in this league. They have picks in the teens that have a lot of potential, but are widely unknows at this point. |

Plus your gaining assets for future trades. Not all picks and prospects will turn out as projected . Make a deal for an established player when your getting close |

I think he has IBS. How many times a year do we hear RJ "Vanek has gone to the dressing room"? |

Just looking at the surface of things, I can see that.
Look a little deeper & it looks worse.... a lot worse.
This team has a lot of "what if's".
If Miller is traded can Enroth be adequate?
What if Myers regains form.
What if our young kids learn to play in the NHL & are legit.
What if someone besides Vanek can score.
What if Vanek gets traded.
I don't see them being in last place this year but bottom 5 is a real possibility.
This will be the year of learning. I will feel better about their chances next season.

Getting rid of Vanek should have a direct correlation to a lower pick this year. |
