Tell that to Harrison who rocked Sven, who then proceeded to crosscheck Tim's face.
Or Ramage who went for a monster check and if Poirier didn't have his head up could have been obliterated.
Guys where finishing their checks in both scrimmages. After the Sven hit, it almost seemed like Sven got hurt. Thank god it doesn't sound like it. - kickazzflames
Guys are told to finish their checks, but are reminded its a development camp. |

It was more physical than I thought it would be, that was for sure. But from what I've seen, I don't think players were going all out to kill eachother.
However, if you compare it to Vancouver's scrimage it looked like WWIII out there. |

I think I remember Conroy saying he wasn't mad at Harrison gunning for Sven.. (That's how guys like Harrison can get their name noticed.. Although he still had a strong camp despite the hit) He was upset that no one stepped up for Sven.
I dunno man... that Ramage attempt was a very Phanuef like hit.. and it looked like something that could have destroyed Poirier had he connected. |

I played a pretty high level of hockey and participated in many camps. For the most part, nobody gives a poop about the next guy. Just trying to make an impression for yourself. |

I highly doubt that.
You're telling me that if someone gets to line up Sven or Mono that they are going to lay them out.
I highly doubt that. If you are hitting to hurt in these camps that are about skill development, my guess is you'll find yourself on the way out of town pretty quick. |

I played with G 4 years ago. He is really really small, but I cant remember the last time I saw him get punished by a check, he is very agile/quick/evasive/aware that Im not kidding its almost impossible. He can turn on a dime and accerlate out of corners. If a defender is quick enough to get him on the boards that is really their only hope. If he has any bit of space, he will make the necessary move and create space for himself or move the puck. |

There are certain exceptions, but for the most part, these guys are playing to make an impression. If that means throwing a big hit, they will do it, as you saw yesterday. |

Very much so. These guys must show that they can play a physical game and finish their checks, but they are not wise if they consider trying to absolutely flaten someone. Not the time or place. Coaches can tell who can play a physical game out there without taking guys heads off. I am positive a few guys got a talking to about some of the hits. Play physical, but save the big hits for later, type of thing. |

How bad would have it been if he gives Poirier a concussion on the play?
Hey, we passed on Hunter and now we have a player with a concussion history because of a mini camp.

He looks decent though, developing slowly, just as everyone anticipated.
I think he will be a changed player come next summer - The-O-G
No, not trolling, just wondering. If I was trolling, then it would have had. " " You guys had a nice draft and have a decent system now, I was assessing the complementary pieces. |

Yeah that would suck big time, but in the NHL you got guys who will destroy you if you got your head down. Shouldn't be an issue in Development camp, but all these guys are trying to "Win" a jersey in any way they can.
Also its just something flames fans are used too..
Daniel Tkaczuk looked extremely promising, 11 points in 19 games and then bam. Concussion and could never regain his form.

exactly.
Rookie camp is about improving guys skill level, getting them used to the system and getting them used to eachother (or at least it should be).
If a player starts running around, I'd sure hope the someone from the organization grabs him by tye neck and sits him down.
Plenty of time to stand out in September. |

No rookie makes an NHL team in July.
The Flames aren't sitting around the table today saying, "Wow Tim Harrison would look good on the fourth-line."
Mono, Knight and Sven are the only three that have a shot at the team IMO. |

What a great attitude this Johnny Gaudreau and I wish him all the success in the world. Very unlike the typical greedy nhlers who are in love with themselves. Very refreshing. |
