You can't even begin to imagine some of the nighmares my brain concocts.
That's because you're just a woman with a small brain. With a brain a third the size of us. It's science.

I just got back from being off-line for a bit, see this, and fear the worst from the fallout...

Is jmatchett still among us?

Nothing you type with any amount of enthusiasm will come through as anything but sarcasm.

Now go turn this into the first lyric of a hit song.

If you have a disaster that's going to be the unavoidable consequence. Of course if it's my team I'm always going to want more room. Hell, I want more right now.

Maybe 10% isn't enough but it's where they've put it. You aren't talking about continuing sliding the percentage as the cap goes up are you? Like 15% at 80 mil, 20% at 100 mil? Trying to understand where you're going.

Edit: Maybe they should set it at the percentage a single player can represent on the salary cal as a max contract. Is that where you're headed?

- mayorofangrytown

I'm really not headed anywhere, other then if a team gets a serious injury to more then one high Cap hit player. Where the players will not play in an upcoming Season, or are not expected to resume playing at all. They're pretty much screwed.

It doesn't make a lot of sense that someone like Pronger, who everyone knows almost certainly will never play another NHL game, counts against the cap of the Flyers as opposed to being able to retire with the Flyers paying off all or most of his salary.

Why the league thinks it makes sense to punish a team because a player gets hurt and has to end his career early while playing a high-speed contact sport where a frozen piece of vulcanized rubber is flying around is just beyond me.

They aren't punishing the Flyers, or any other team. And it does make sense that it counts against the Cap. It has to. It's what a Salary Cap is all about.

Awesome that Hexy is back. Probably already said but I wish he was here a few weeks ago. We may have gotten a much higher ceiling player in the 3rd round.

You'd think after 10 yrs of running a team the job, while tremendous, would take it's toll on your nerves.

It's a good move -- obviously, I'm in the bag pretty completely for what Paul Holmgren has accomplished, but this clearly has the feel of a succession plan, and I'm certainly a believer in what Ron Hextall has accomplished.

I don't really follow what he's done as an AGM so far, what exactly has he accomplished? I realize he was the AGM of a very recent cup winner, but how involved exactly was he in building that team?

I think it's safe to assume he was very involved.
