I'm almost 100% positive Luongo will be in camp for the Canucks, the alternative doesn't make sense for him and trading him didn't work.
That being said, after watching teams pass on picking up certain players on waivers prior to their buyouts, then seeing guys like clowe, clarkson, filppula etc get stupid contracts, I really don't know what some of these GM's are thinking when it comes to the business end of it.
There are a few GM's that will only hand out short term low dollar contracts and a few GM's that clearly think they're gone in the next year or two so they hand out stupid deals they know they won't be on the hook to deal with when it becomes a problem.
That we had a lockout so these GM's could give the same stupid contracts to even lesser ufa's pisses me off. If the player split was such an issue, why are these clowns locking up such bit parts to long term deals at big dollars? WTF are these idiots thinking?

ball hockey this morning, maybe a motorcycle ride this afternoon. Love summer.
(frank) the NHL and the short term thinking and long term signing GM's.

So long as the team doesn't bottom out. I wouldn't count on him getting the 30+ wins he gets every year for 5-7 more years. - Morris
he is at 350 wins. I suspect he will reach at least 500 wins before he retires. Which will put him 3rd all time behind roy and Broduer. But without a cup not sure what his legacy will be. Ed Belfor and Cujo never won a cup and both came close to 500 wins. |

ya true he'll probably actually get over 500 wins now that I think about it. We'll have to see how well Vancouver transitions through the Sedins era into the Horvat/Shinkaruk/next guys era to know if Lou will have a chance at a cup. |

The only real reason Luongo wanted out of Vancouver was to step aside and let his pal Cory Schneider run with the ball - IanEsplen
Really? That was the ONLY REASON?
quote unquote
You should really watch what you write. Its ridiculous to say that luongo was willing to jeopardize his entire career to allow somebody else to take his job
Roberto wanted out because of the fans. And he Still does |
|

Right now Luongo is the No. 1 guy. Many of the “Lumour Mongers” out there believe he is pissed off and that there is a possibility that he will hold out in order to force a trade.
Aren't people who are claiming that they know he will be back to play in Vancouver "Lumour Mongers" as well?
What evidence has he given which would indicate that he is happy enough to return as the #1 goalie in Vancouver? He sure as hell hasn't said he's coming back. While it would be crazy for him to walk away from a contract like that he has not said he is returning - even after meetings with ownership and the head coach.
While I think he'll end up returning I just don't understand the anger towards people who have a different view.
Ownership/management botched this situation right from the very start when they declared Schneider as the #1 goalie. |

The fans treated him quite well - he wants out because of ownership, not the fans.

Treated him well?
First, coming up with a special cheer is about the only thing vancouver fans ever did for him
Second.. it doesnt matter how they treated him. Rioting after the cup finals?
Not the type of fans I would want to play for |

Belfour was a modern day sawchuck. Dude didn't give a crap about conditioning and I'm pretty sure was a drunk. But man was he good |

The nice thing about Lou is he's smart enough to know the difference between the millions of fans who cheered for him and the team, and a few a-holes who were looking for a platform to showcase their stupidity. Apparently you do not, but that's alright.

Remember when he trashed a hotel room in Dallas and tried to bribe the cops with a billion dollars?
He became one of my favorites then and there. |

Forgot about that
The one about Allen Iverson is better. He got pulled over and the cop threatened to inpound his car. Iverson said you can have it, I got 3 more the same at home. |

A.I was always great for press. So was T.O. Another two of my favs.
Kobe Bryant though..now there's a guy. When asked by a reporter why the Lakers were struggling the one year said, without even blinking, "Well it ain't like we got the best talent in the league." Basically, 'we suck except for me.' |

The thing about the Luongo deal is my gut tells me with the new CBA rules, we won't ever see Lu retire.
What we'll see is him come down with an odd, weird injury that shortens his career by 3-to-4 years and he'll go on IR. - IanEsplen
Wow not likely. Lu is still a great tender but as he said his contract does s*ck. Lu is a proud guy and Gillis and ownership treated him poorly after they publically announced Cory would be their #1. Lu was quite happy for Cory as the 2 had become friends and enjoyed the internal competition.
Now from the outside looking in management and ownership were doing what they could to get Lu out the door asap. They made it look and sound like Lu was "a stink" they wanted no part of. It was so bad that at the end of the season Lu put his condo up for sale and sold off or shipped home to Florida all of the family possessions before the Stanley Cup was even won.
I expect Lu to head back to Vancouver and play. He will until the end of the 2017/18. A week before the start of the 2018/19 season he will announce his retirement, thus "paying back" management for the way they treated him. |

Never ever found Owens funny. The guy was a a hole. The thing is, Bryant is a top 15 player all time, Iverson probably top 30-40.
Owens was a good not great player during his generation. I'm willing to bet you couldn't find 5 guys who player with Owens that have anything good to say about him |

If Lu is your starting goalie for the next decade, what's the point in having three excellent guys behind them?
They are going to rot on the vine. |

Thing that drove me insane about Owens is if he just would have shut up and grown the (frank) up he could have been considered one of the dominant WRs of his generation, but instead felt the need to flex ego and be a clown. Complete waste of talent. Randy Moss even more so, although he was never quite as much of an asshat as TO.
Still love the one where TO was working out in his driveway and talking to reporters. A-hole sure but that was hilarious. |

I guess playing in Turkey doesn't really pay enough for several Ferraris.
Or is he in Asia somewhere now? I dunno. It was sorta news at first but no one gives a poop now. |

Moss is the best WR of his generation. But with focus could have been best ever. L |

He is a huge A-hole but he is one of the all time great WR. Look at his numbers. Rice is the clear number 1. But TO in my opinion is a top 5 guy. Dont even get me started on Kobe. He has driven 3 Centers out of LA (shaq, Bynum Howard). He texted Howard last summer and was like "come to LA man and be our Tyson Chandler" You can be our 3rd option we need it" Why would Dwight even want to be the 3rd guy. LOL |
