I'd be willing to bet that in 3-4 years they will be saying the same thing about Rask as we do about Miller.

Miller is way better than Rask. That contract is insane.

I'd say they are on par for when they signed their respective contracts. Except Rasks is for 800K more and 2 years longer.

Miller has almost always had a pooptier defense behind him and still makes the best of it. with a good defense, he looks like miller from the olympics or the 2 years after the lockout, without, he looks like miller on the sabres. not that much of a difference, but since we haven't had an offense post drury/briere either, he hasn't looked as good, and we've lost. Rask is playing with a great defense right now, take that away and he'd look MUCH worse and would be much worse than miller post drury/briere.

My big issue is body of work before signing huge contract.

I expected him to get something around quicks.

Rask isn't a million+ a year better than quick and quick has a cup and smyth.

Rasks contract is a disaster.

This I agree with, Chara will retire in 2-3 years, That contract is going to hinder Boston signing UFA/RFA D-men.

At his best? I still say you put Miller in Boston (in theory) he has better numbers than Rask

Especially being an RFA. Boston panicked here, IMO.

Saying that if you're being generous to rask he's miller comparable.

I agree, miller on Boston he has better numbers than Raask.

Raask has almost dropped a series up 3-1 in the playoffs, dropped one up 3-0, and gave up 2 goals in 14 seconds to lose the stanely cup.

Not exactly reassuring

Financially yes, but the D wont be as good. And we have all seen what happens when a high priced goalie had the defense in front of him decrease in skill...

Ristolainen says it's either Buffalo or Finland next season
July 10, 2013 - 7:28 PM
By John Vogl

The Sabres hoped to have Rasmus Ristolainen in the organization next year, but it appears the only way that will happen is if he makes Buffalo’s roster.

After the Sabres drafted the Finnish defenseman eighth overall last month, they said he had no contractual obligations overseas. Thus, if he didn’t make the Sabres, it appeared the team could develop him in Rochester.

“I think no,” Ristolainen said today at development camp. “I’ve got a contract with my hometown team.”
