Question for the group....

Who do you think was more valuable to this team last year:

StaHlberg or Frolik?

- Ogilthorpe2

Frolik .......he did his job every night and greatly helped our d guys and goalies and made the occasisional dumb penalty by all his mates disappear

Last year, based on his offensive and on ice contribution, Frolik was more valuable than Stalberg, Bollig, Mayers and Carbomb.

You mean have less than half the points of Stalberg

When your role is to shut other teams down and play the PK, not going to have many scoring opportunities. Given the effectiveness of the penalty kill last year, Frolik was the better player hands down. Not even comparable.

The single most important thing that separated the Hawks from the rest of the league was the penalty kill. It was that special team that bailed them out over and over again, sometimes even gaining them momentum. Frolik.

I think it was their depth. The final goal of the season by the fourth line sort of put an exclamation point on it.

This type of discussion is the reason why I am not a huge fan of individual stat based metrics in hockey.

Boston's PK was better than the Blackhawks, especially in the Finals where the Hawks got torched
- rollpards19

Think that was a combo of a horrid PP and decent PK on the ice at the same time

He said offensive. If you can provide any evidence Frolik was this grand change in the penalty kill, then maybe I'll grant you that, but I doubt you'll be able to do so. People are totally forgetting how good Stals was in the regular season

Agree. And to me it wasn't even close. We demorialized teams on the PK last year. It was the Hawks biggest advantage the entire year IMO and Frolik and Kruger were the Hawks biggest PK studs.

Apples and oranges then. Can't compare them on offensive stats because of their roles on the team.

Looking forward to the overpay effect in Nashville.

Me too.

I think Nashville way over paid for Vik and Hendricks. Silly. But good for them

2011 Penalty Shot against Vancouver in Game 6 to tie the game and force OT

2013 Penalty Shot against Detroit in Game 6 to ice the win and force a Game 7

Need I say more?

So don't compare them on defense either. (And lets ignore Vik's superior +- every year they've been on the same team)

6’9” Viktor Svedberg, another Swedish blueliner, reportedly has some skating ability to go with his considerable size.

If I'm not mistaken, he was at prospects camp a couple of summers ago. He also signed an AHL deal in Rockford.

I think there is a reason beyond the money demands why Stalberg is no longer with the Hawks. One only needs to look at TOR letting him go to begin with, and his tude during the playoffs.

Selfish player.

I don't think he was selfish player. He just had subpar stick handles.
