I would think McNeill might draw a lot of interest if he was placed on the block if he is not going to fit in Chicago. Trouble is, isn't he projected to be a potential power forward? They take longer to develop. Hopefully it clicks with him sooner than later, or Stan offloads him if he only wants to play like Jimmy Hayes/Daze..perimeter players with size who shy away from contact - ikeane
McNeill apparently left the ice yesterday after taking a puck in the back of the leg. Hope it's nothing major. Look forward to what the Chicago HB set see when they watch MM.

Thanks Phil; appreciate the info!
So we can pencil him in for the 2020 squad? - HawkintheD
Absolutely....IF he's still with the club.

Isn't that Jay Blunk standing in the background in the center - this is what you get with the McD marketing department...as long as there's a ploy or a buck behind it. Frankin' embarrassing...I'd love to see McD move on to fix the White Sox (as mentioned in Dan McGrath's column in the Suntimes last week) - oh that's right they don't have championship team giftwrapped for him to market.
Not to mention that tool belushi on the ice hoisting the cup... - DK002
To me that's a far bigger foul than Bieber. Belushi should've been NO WHERE near the ice, especially right after the final horn sounds. That's the players domain. I would go so far as to say the front office personnel (other than McD, Blunk, Stan, etc) shouldn't be allowed to hoist the cup.
At least Bieber is Canadian, so I'm okay w/him posing w/the Cup. The standing on the Indian Head chaps my arse more than the Cup pose.
How about this...Belushi should be allowed to touch the Cup, the next time he does something funny. Tit for tat. We might be waiting a while.... |

I'm curious to see what the Organ-I-zayshun does with Beach. I've posted this before...if Beach were in the Red Wings organization, you wouldn't hear boo about im until he was ready for the show.
ideally, he would be the right handed equivalent to Milan Lucic, but he still may become that. Eli is probably best to comment on this, but it appears that Beach's game has grown/matured every year in Rockford. He still has his schizo moments like that massive brawl he started w/the Teletubby guy - eburgio
I was actually being flippant with that comment until I read this. The Hawks patience was rewarded this year with Bickell's play. Conversely impatience caused the Hawks to lose out on the unspectacular but effective Daniel Cleary. May as well hang on to Beach until it obvious he will never make the step to the NHL rather than giving up and having to play against him. |

He has his moments and you're like wow....what a shot!....and then five minutes later it's like......what the heck is wrong with that guy? |

Big men take time but Beach seems not to have it btween the ears. I really don't know, but I expect nothing from him. I really like Cleary |

Beach just finished his Entry Level contract. I understand, due to his draft position, that more is expected of him. But everyone develops at a different rate. Aside from a cup of coffee, did Bickell do much in the NHL during his Entry Level contract?
I'm happy the organization has more depth, so it allows players to take their time and grow. I still don't know if Beach has the marbles to grow, but the fact they don't NEED him right away should count for something.
I liken this to all the cant-miss Cubs prospects that missed. Wonder how things would've been different if they had just let those kids take their time. Chances are damn good the results would've been the same. |

The toughest thing to do in hockey is be physical game in and game out. McNeil can play a physical game, I have seen him. I have also seen him float around doing nothing. This kid is big, he skates well, he has some scoring ability, he can hit, he can fight and he thinks the game well. It's way too early about thinking McNeil won't fit in. - paulr
When I saw McNeil he was 180 deg out from what Phil saw. He was battling in the corners,in front of the net, involved in the game. So which is the real Mark McNeil? The one I saw? or the one Phil saw? Wonder how he did against the physical play of the Oil Kings? Calling Dr. Wiz! Calling Dr. Wiz! |

Love to hear Wiz' take on him.....MM can't hide in junior any longer. He'll have to prove himself at the pro level now and in 12 cameo games with Rockford, he did not record a single point.
Hope doofus Ted Dent doesn't ruin him.

Which is the real Milan Lucic, the one who was benched for floating around or the beast in the playoffs? McNeil has the capability and potential to be a physical power forward. Let him develop and reassess him in 2 years. |

There's no hurry. Development take time. I'm just glad the Hawks actually try to develop players now. |

I remember Fredo mentioning in past threads about McNeill's physical play. Perhaps Philco caught McNeill during a slump stretch?
At any rate, I'm sure I'll see plenty of McNeill this fall in Rockford. I'll let you know what I see. |

I did catch him late in the regular season when he and his team were coasting to the playoffs. They had a spot locked up and maybe he was just trying to avoid injury ?
Look forward to your reports on him EK
