granted boston is a bit better of a team and in way better shape with players locked up than the sabres were when they committed to miller and have a MUCH better general manager
but hopefully rask's contract doesnt handcuff then like millers sorta did to buff |

Let me start by saying i love Tuukka. But this contract will absolutely handcuff them. We have a solid core that has now brought the team to two cups. Its going to be hard to resign Lucic and Krejci while maintaining the depth they covet. |

yeah I'm not crazy about this deal either. I don't see anything wrong with 5 years 25M. Tuukka has put his time in there's no doubt about that, and I'm not even really all that wound up about the coin, it's just the term. He's coming into his prime now and he should continue to get better but if he ends pulling a Jim Carey imma be pissed. Yes I know he has more talent than Carey ever did |

8 years is too long for anyone even Crosby, Ovi, Stamkos, Gretzky...anyone. I like that Tuukka is back I just hope he plays well like he has. |

no it won't. after the cap dips next year it goes back up. if the league keeps making money like it's been, it will go up year after year.
you really think our front office would handcuff the team? they know what they are doing. |

the good thing is, at the end of his 8 years, he is still only going to be like 33 years old, its not like he will be late 30's in his contract or anything.... I agree it's a long time BUT, if he didn't get that from Boston, another team would have been happy to give it to him |

I mean i don't despise the deal and i dont love it. RIGHT NOW it seems like its a million to high and a year or two long from what i would prefer going forward.
Could work. |

if you wanted tuukka rask back it's what it took. no way he was taking less than Rinne. |

Better than 0 years of Rask. http://www.Daysofyorr.com made an excellent point. Subban will only be 27 by the time this contract is done. Rask wouldn't have taken over until being 27 if Thomas didn't take last year off.
Thinking about this further... Chia knows what he is doing with the cap, Subban can develop properly, as a result you have depth and a potential trade piece in Svedberg in a season or 2. What is really to hate about this? |
