Not that Army would be entertaining offers for Petro, but any offer that didn't include Subban would get MB hung up on immediately. If MB were to offer sheet Petro this off-season, Army will just offer sheet PK next off season. I doubt MTL could afford both on offer sheet deals without gutting the team. They would have 1/3 of next year's cap tied up in Petro, PK and Price.

THIS! muffin_man to the rescue. It's exactly how I see it too, markov and Gio gives you 10M next year, and salary cap is likely going up a few $M too. I don't think we are in a bad situation that we won't be able to sign both at 7M, but very unlikely since St-louis will match, and there is some team that will be willing to give a lot more for Piet (see flyers) than what habs could afford
