You are right...I did misread it...

So 20 million, assuming 70 million cap, but you still have to sign Kruger, Shaw, Crawford, and Hammer....So that margin erodes very quickly...and then you will have to plug in a BUNCH of bargains to make it work...That's assuming you don't trade away or buy out a Hossa, Sharp, Seabrook....and if so, you have a logical replacement at a lower salary.

Don't see it...It's not doom and gloom, the numbers don't lie...and watching all these contracts pile up should alarm everyone.

- SteveRain

Kruger and Shaw won't be more than 2 million each, Shaw will probably only be like 1.5, but thats 4 of 20 gone. Hammer at 5.5 (probably realistic) 9.5 gone. Now 5 of your top 6 is set on forward (unless someone claims 2C this year, but doubtful IMO). Bottom 6, you have Saad Shaw and Krugs locked up for about 5 million total. The 4th line will likely be one of Danault/McNeil (about 1 million so 10.5 gone) one of Hayes/Morin (another million gone so 11.5) and an addition of veteran PKer in the Frolik mold (lets say 1.5 so 13 million gone). They aren't signing CC to a big money contract, Bowman teams don't do this and it isn't going to change now. That means Rantaa and a 2 mil vet are starting unless CC signs for 4 (which he wont). So goalie costs 4 lets say and were up to 17 million. Thats the whole team with 3 million in cap space to fill second line center. Now is that enough? Probably not, so tradeable contracts include Oduya and thats pretty much it. If Leddy progresses, then he replaces Oduya and Clendening replaces Leddy and learns from master Rosi. Now you have about 5 million in cap space for a second line center, and that works just fine. I doubt Oduya survives next summer, but if they don't suck, then the numbers work out so everyone else will

I think you see Oduya moved after this season, which will open up $3M+. If Crawford's number rises above $4.5, I think he's gone also. And even if his number were there or less, I'm still not convinced he is back.

I do think that you are spending decent money on Kruger and Shaw (probably around $2MM each) and likely at least $4.5M for Hammer. Obviously, that's some coin, so the corresponding moves on other guys is certainly going to be interesting to watch.

- QStache

If the Hammer's price will be north of $5.0M. #2 dmen in their prime aren't cheap.

Tyler Seguin, traded to Dallas, Texas, posts on Twitter, "Only Steers and Queers In Texas."

http://www.dallasnews.com...ter-say-he-was-hacked.ece

I'll say it again, Boston traded an underachiever who needs to grow up and Dallas gave them a stud star player in return, who also makes less money.

- Hemingways

I'm happy Eriksson isn't in our new division, that guy is like a bit smaller version of Hossa, such a stud

Facts are NOT facts...

2010-11 was a team full of crap. Go back and look at the roster. A coach can only coach what he has. Had nothing to do with his line juggling.

2011-12..he had no Toews for a LONG stretch of time, and Hossa was taken out vs Phoenix.

My god....the guy is now in the conversation of the best coaches in the game, and you act like he's Alpo. Tell me, who else do you want running this team? Who?

And by the way genius, his line juggling of putting Toews and kane back together, putting Bickell with them, moving Saad down to line 3, and putting Bolland on line 4, with Handzus on line 2....got you a championship. HE also sat a very timid and bad Nick Leddy when he was lost and being exposed on the road....

So yeah....facts ARE facts...

You are probably right.

Out of curiosity, Beaver-Warrior, are you connected to the wine industry at all? Just saw your location.

What???? He NEVER gave anything TIME to work! AAMOF, half the time he'd REJUGGLE the lines halfway through the first period, and often continue doing it throughout the game. How is THAT conducive to production? You need chemistry.

Clown out.

- Q...argh

Are you Phucking nuts, besides JJ, Steve Rain and Wiz are probably the most astute on this blog and you are going to dispute them. You are truly insane!

Up yours. Once again, don't fall in with the rah-rah crowd's mandated opinions, the personal insults come out. I've had enough of this crap. You kids have fun crapping your plastic pants in the sandbox.
- Q...argh

I'm going to give you one warning only, stop with the insults and if you're wondering why I'm singling you out it is because you have the most reported posts against you from a lot of different posters.

Each ban from now on will get longer and longer, stop the insults!!!!

To the rest, keep it civil.

Only if they want to become more energy efficient. On a side note you may call me Beav or BW. No need to type the full name.

OT question for BW, does it rain as much in Oregon as it does in Seattle? I've always been curious about that.

I'll hang up and listen for your response.

Aren't you the same guy who posted THIS:

National broadcasters always call for and expect coaches to "mix it up" when teams aren't producing...the years he points out...the Hawks weren't producing....You don't stay with the same thing OVER and OVER again when it isn't working...

in order to defend his constant, unnecessary line juggling and support your contention that he's one of the NHL's "best" coaches??? Honestly, you don't see the total inconsistency in your own statements??? If he's such a great coach, then, why DOESN'T he change the PP scheme???

BTW, plastic pants are undies for toddlers, for those who might not know. Quite seriously, this is my final post here. Don Rickles, you may now go back to "mixing and matching" facts/concepts/arguments as you see fit wherever they support your conclusion that Q is an elite coach ... who couldn't get out of the first round of the playoffs without the most stacked teams in the NHL! (And THAT, my friend, IS a fact!)

- Q...argh

Doubt it.
And I thouht YOU were Don Rickels. Now I'm confused.

I'll call you BW, just because I've been known to be a little hard on the Beav so that might be a little awkward to call you that.

It's pretty much the same anywhere in the Cascadia Bio-region, which is the area west of the Cascades and extends from just north of the Ca/Or border to the BC/Ak border. Two seasons, Rain and California like sun.

How bout letting Kruger walk and unloading Brookbank and throwing it at Brunner. He is a young Center and has the skill and ability to really come into his own flanked by Hossa and Sharp. I know it's not likely but this monday has been awful.
- nickmo2699

10 years from now, 5 years form now, maybe next season, you may look back and say Marcus Kruger >>> Damian Brunner

That is if you buy the premise that it's not just about "points." Which is a premise that generally wins Stanley Cups.

Too many people only get points. One poster on here today suggested Stalberg was more valuable then Frolik because he had more points.

I wouldnt say that. You have to love his compete level, but I do not think Krugs will ever be a top 6 guy. He has played a checking role mostly, but I havent seen that much skill on display at this point. Maybe he can replace Bolland, but IMO if he is our second line center of the future we are in trouble.
- nickmo2699

Probably the second best passer on the team, after Kane. Very good hands (see rebound/follow up goal on Rask—not many people in the world make that play) and good in space.

He is doing the job they ask of him. And like a lot of Swedes, plays it defense first by instinct—not for lack of ability.

The other thing is he is literally built like my 11 year old son from the waist up right now. When he matures physically, more of the game is going to come to him offensively. In fact, when he gets stronger he is going to be a BEAST along the wall, because he is very, very good there now on instinct and hands alone.

That was me and, uh, Stalberg is undoubtedly a more valuable player than Frolik, do you honestly think Frolik gets 3 million on the open market this summer? Does he get 2? He's a better a more valuable player who provides more offense and more time in the oppositions zone at 5v5

Brunner looks like Viktor Stalberg 2.0

Frolik was an integral part of an outstanding penalty kill. What was Stalberg's contribution?
