agree with all this

I kinda of wonder how Hartnell and Vinny will be at the end of their deals. ~2017-18

Will they be 4th line grinders for the combined cap hit of 9+M?

Will we even care?

- Marc D

It's hard to tell. Hartnell's never really relied on his speed to be effective, so I can't imagine him slowing down with age will necessarily hurt him too bad. Vinny has lost some of his speed already, and still produces at close to a pt/game. I think he could also be an ok producer towards the end of his contract.

Do you agree with the contract extension to Grioux? Where do you see Shen and Coulier fitting in this year?

Groo is the guy they drafted instead of Sangetti and the other too are the players they got as results of the Mike Richardson and Jeff Carlson trades.

I'd hope so. But on the other wing, you could see any combo of guys (Hartnell, Vinny, Schenn, Morin...okay, maybe not Morin).

Morin has a lot of work to do. Needs to hit the weight room big time.

So, in summary for today:

- Prospect camp getting ready to open
- Flyers need to trade one of Mez/Coburn
- Trade for AP, offer sheet AP, trade for AP, stand pat, offer sheet AP, trade for AP
- Lecavalier jerseys on sale

About it?

That's what we tried with Parent and Krajicek. It didn't really work out that well.
Again, I think that Lauridsen and MAB can be serviceable bottom-pair defenders, but I don't think they're full-time NHL players right now.

I'm sorry, I don't want to be a downer, but I think the whole Lauridsen thing has been blown out of proportion. He's a fairly one-dimensional player who played a few good games (and a few very poor games) in late season "play out the string" duty. Yes, he showed that he can hang with the big kids for the most part, but he also showed that he leaves A LOT to be desired in terms of positioning, foot speed, and decision making. The best thing for him would be to play some tougher minutes in the AHL and be a 3rd pair call-up option if (when) needed for the Flyers.

Lecavalier will also be helped by the end of the merry go round on his line. Look at the Tampa Bay line combos from the last couple years. Vinny has played with everybody, but really nobody has stuck.

Perhaps that plays a part in his "taking nights off"....kind of hard to be up for every game when you're carrying 4th liners.

I wish I could make it just to see him. Saw a few college games, and you could just tell that he was on another planet.

He's not very big but he skates well and handles the puck nicely. He also has a very good shot.

It's amazing how they put him with players like that and fans get moody that he isn't the same player he was. He was carrying beer league wingers for stints and he still produces at close to a point per game. It's exciting to see how he'll perform with some real wingers.

I see him as being at least 2 years out. At least one more in college and 1/2 season or more in the AHL.

Right but top 4, top line, top 6? Powerplay quarterback? or just a powerplay specialist who can't handle too much time on ice?
