no I think it is all part of the fun, if everyone had the same opinion and just echoed Bill the place would be boring

I didn't want them to go after Lacavalier and said it the morning before they got him.

But I think for at least 2 years he is going to be pretty good for them, and who knows, it could be longer, or he could get hurt this year.

I'm really OK with Claude Giroux's deal.
I think he is even more a fiery competitor then Richards is, and I love Richards.
Hopefully it works out, 8 years is really long.
Even if it doesn't I am psyched to know he will be a Flyer through his prime.

- Marc D

I'm not sure if eight years for Giroux really is that long. We may have signed him for his best years. He'll be Vinny's age now when the deal is done. When Vinny's deal is done Brayden Schenn will be about 26 and Sean Couturier 25. I think these deals are expiring at perfect times for the youngsters. This isn't to say that these younger guys can't over come an age star like Lecavalier either. By Mike Richards' third season and Briere's first as a Flyer, Richards still manage to come out on top. These young players still have a huge opportunity to be big stars in a flyers uniform.

Actually I'm closer to Abbotsford, but really I'm an NHL guy.

I did see the Everett Silvertips play once.

Junior hockey is fun to watch, just not close to a team.

From what I read of Vinny's quotes, he wants to play on Girouxs right side. That would be interesting.

I dunno 2nd line is a scoring line so it doesn't have to be especially defensive to be effective at it's purpose.
- JAKEw1234

I don't think I said otherwise. My point was only that basically I'm worried we get into another situation where a veteran causes a logjam at that center position and can't move Down or out to wing. My expectations were for the team to have some faith in schenn or couturier to grow into that role. I don't know now.

With Jake playing the 2nd line without Vinny or G to make some plays with him? That'll probably hurt his sharp production increase that he's enjoyed for the past year and a half. I'd want one of G or Vinny in the middle for Jake.

Good point but I think Homer and Vinny both said that he can go to the wing if need be.

I think what Jake was saying there was "pick a number" as in "get in line"....

agree with all this

I kinda of wonder how Hartnell and Vinny will be at the end of their deals. ~2017-18

Will they be 4th line grinders for the combined cap hit of 9+M?

Will we even care?

Was at skate zone tonight to see some of the prospects. Morin is a big dude but kind of skinny right now.

Some decent players out there tonight.

Agreed. I actually thought having Richards as the 3rd line center in 07/08 was fantastic, as he didn't need to carry the heavy scoring duties and was allowed to break out due to it. It would be nice if guys line Couturier and/or Schenn are allowed to just find their game as opposed to being counted on as top offensive contributors right now.

Sure in the meantime can you police up the constant misuse of "will see" as in we'll see? That one particularly drives me crazy... Some serious Freudian stuff there I know.

Do you agree with the contract extension to Grioux? Where do you see Shen and Coulier fitting in this year?

They could be this or respected players that teams might have an interest in for one final cup run at that stage in their careers. Who knows, who cares. It's nothing to worry about right now.

As for JoeyR, I think he's missing a lot of the big picture. When Vinny's contract ends, Schenn and Couturier will still be young players heading into their collective primes.
