Younger faster Hartnell and more skilled, grittier McGinn
- JAKEw1234

I would agree about younger and faster, but I'm not willing to go on that side with McGinn. Simmonds in LA is where McGinn is now with the Flyers. In need of a chance in a top 6 role. I love Simmonds, but I can see why other teams covet him and why the Flyers would move him in the right deal.

I was thinking all of that but the briere part. The player he reminds me off for some reason that didn't even play for the flyers yet was very good in his heyday was lafontaine albeit a more watered down version yes.

G has more grit and plays in the hard areas of the ice. w/ the exception of forsberg, he has more puck skill than any other plyr in franchise history. i think the flyers paid mkt price for him and while i disagree that it will ever seem cheap going forward, i'm cautiously optimistic that we will get at least ~ 6 yrs where he'll play up to the contract. but i do emphasize the word caution.

Not an expert, but I just don't see this trade with Montreal based on what I read about the players.

That's intriguing. It's a big role of the dice with a guy who is a key piece of the Flyers future plans.
- Jsaquella

no doubt. its totally a gamble.

I'm confused. You think Simmons is filler?

What's wrong with Plekanec? Seemed like he is a pretty productive player in Montreal. I agree though would rather have Simmer and Max.

Makes no sense for the Flyers trading for Plekanec, unless there's a secondary move.

The Talbot & Coburn for Moen and Beaulieu part makes sense, but not the Simmonds for Plekanec angle to it, from the Flyers stand point.

- Jsaquella

Totally agree. I would rather keep Simmonds and let Montreal have Plekanec. No turtlenecks allowed.

Simmonds trade value will never be higher. He is signed long-term to pretty friendly cap number for his production. Does a lot of the dirty work. He's a younger Hartnell and more experienced McGinn.

One summer out from signing a new deal and trade bait.

Ok. Hold up. Hartnell Simmonds is not, at least not yet.

Hartnell is better on the boards, Better in his own zone, a better passer.

I haven't seen first line game in simmer yet. Really like the kid though

Everyone on the roster is trade bait, I have no clue what the team is doing. There are very few untouchables in the NHL right now. I don't think the Flyers have any on their roster right now, do you?

Unless Montreal is offering up Price or Subban, they have nothing I want.

Absolutely not. In the right deal anyone on the team can be traded.

I personally think Simmonds is a very important player on this team. Wouldn't move him for Plekanec though.

I don't know much about the young defenseman that's being talked about. Sounds like he is a very good young player. That peaks my interest. Would be willing to move Coburn for a player like that.

Then we both are on the same side everyone is available in the right deal. Also, I would agree Plekanec for Simmonds is not necessary. However, if I'm ranking all assets available for trade (most reluctant to trade as opposed to get him the hell out of here), Simmonds isn't in my top 5, probably closer to 10.

R2 you mean the guy that we could've called up after the draft to come in for a tryout?

What's your list? It's hard to know just which assets are available for trade, and Homer has said that he isn't shopping Simmer in response to the Montreal rumors.

I thought I would see more action today with trades (from teams) but it was a boring day.
