What do you think Buffalo would want? I would be interested in Myers. Coming off a terrible year and shouldn't be ridiculous price wise.
- stveshdy

I really don't know how to gauge his trade value. Maybe coburn, read, pick would get it done

The Flyers are never going to do a traditional rebuild as long as Snider owns the team.

Saying that they got old real fast is really ignoring that they did so in large part to avoid trading any of the young nucleus. Actually, they got younger up front in trading Briere for Lecavalier. Teams need a mix of vets and kids to have success.

- Jsaquella

You have a point about lecalvier and briere. I thought they were doing a rebuild in 08 then another one in 11. Now it's just wing it and hope

I've seen almost 30 years of the two guy thing in net the best that has ever come of it is an embarrassing sweep by the red wings.
- JoeRussomanno

I can understand this completely.
Myself I was disappointed they didn't get Bernier or Schneider.
They had enough assets to make those deals.
I'm guessing they didn't feel that either one was the guy they wanted to take a chance in being their solution to having a number one goalie.
I know the organization is very high on Mason. Maybe they felt Mason has the same chance to turn out to be The Guy as Bernier or Schneider.
I'd say Mason is less likely then those other two guys, but only the future will tell.
If both Mason and Emery suck, they've lost another year. But if one turns out to be great, then they are one step closer to the grail.
We'll see. I would have been happy to get Schneider for the 11th +.
But then no Morin.

They need a defenseman and a goalie. Streit isn't the answer and neither is emery. Not trying to knock these players but I'm tired of this front office (frank)ing around. Emery came cheap because he's an injury risk and yet again another goalie that needs positioning and can't rely on his reflexes, well with this coach he's doomed.

So yea they should've stood pat and maybe just brought in another coach, go from there. Instead they bring in two free agents in lecalvier and emery that probably won't fit on top of that they awarded this captain with a monstrous contract after missing the playoffs when two years ago they traded his predecessor after getting bounced in the second round... It just goes on and onward but never upward. It's frustrating

- JoeRussomanno

He doesn't have to sell the team he just has to have the doors open two hours prior to puck drop, the house will fill just like it did in the 90s.
- JoeRussomanno

With what tickets cost now a days...I doubt that...Heck I saw it first hand 2006....I got to go to so many more games cause people couldnt give their tickets away....Again that was a year where they were developing Richie and Carts

I wouldn't give much outside of Read, Coburn, and a 2nd/3rd. Myers had a down year and is supposedly very soft for his size. He is interesting though.

LOL, I mean we really don't need him. You don't want Laughton going back down and they just signed Hall. I guess you could put Gagne on the third line, send down Rosehill and have Hall be your 13th forward.

They didn't bring in another coach, but they actually got players that can better succeed in his system. Sure it isn't Pietrangelo or some other all world guy, but it's still a group of solid additions that will be better at playing the coach's system.

Obviously there's concerns with Emery and Mason, but there'd be questions with any of the "available" goalies, too. They have two capable guys for a low dollar amount, who are hungry and eager to prove themselves. That might be better than a guy set for life with nothing to prove.

We have our two prized young centers developing and heading into their third season in the NHL. We signed the top free agent center right off the market. We traded for the rights to the top free agent defenseman on the market as well. We also never made the playoffs. I would also say there was plenty of setting up leading the way at the trade deadline by acquiring a young goaltender. Have I seen from the Flyers before? Deja vu maybe?

Ok first they needed to sign a goalie they only had one on the roster and got the "injury prone" guy cheap, they obviously believe in mason..we shall see I am skeptical...As far as Giroux, you need to get over cause thats what it costs to keep a player of his skills..Lecavilier and Streit I can see your problem with these moves, but this team is never going to stand pat after a bad year, sometimes not after a good one either,....is it flawed I agree it is, but I have accepted that is how its going to be so if your at your frustration breaking point then maybe its time to find something else to root for because they are never gonna change
- nonpoint22

I can tell by talking to you I forgot more about this game than you know... I'm glad you accepted that's how it is, but sorry I don't have someone piss on my back and tell me it's raining. I've been supportive of the team over the years but when they keep doing the same poop expecting different results that's just bullpoop and I have every right to call them out on it.

I see a plan. They're not trading key youngsters and are keeping that young core together. They're preparing for Timonen to retire in signing Streit. Granted he won't replace Timonen's all around game, but the bigger need is the offensive ability, especially in moving the puck.

Rather than getting into a long term deal with a question mark goalie, they've got 2 hungry guys trying to prove themselves. I'm happy to roll with that over some of the options.

Even if it's the same, they should be better in the transitional game, which will limit the odd man rushes and turnovers and wasted time tyring to get out of the zone, which will also lead to more offense.

They're not a perfect team, but I get what Holmgren's doing and I agree with it thus far

I want Hall playing. I agree that there is no place for Gagne. He is one of my favorite players but he is 33 going on 39. He had 11 points in 27 games and even had quite a few games with Giroux and Voracek on the top line. He had numerous opportunities but just couldn't bury them. That used to never be a problem for him. I think he's a nice addition to any team because of his all around play, But I don't think he's worth it unless a guy like Read is traded.

There better down the middle and that helps big time this year.
