I would imagine there is a call center for the Blues right now, taking calls from other GMs.

I don't know but Rich has been on point about everything so far.

Whoa, let's not get carried away. Top line complete defenseman yes, but he's not nearly the same physical player that Weber is, and his shot isn't nearly as heavy.
- jmatchett383

From what I watched last year. He got beat multiple times due to positioning. Kind of a down year from the previous. Hey if it drives the price down even a smidgid that works in our favor

Far too much.

For one of the top young players playing one of the most valuable positions?

I bet you it is Schenn, Couturier, Coburn and a first. Maybe even one other prospect like a Haggis or Cousins.

So more than the Flyers walked away from Weber for? Ok. No thanks.

Exactly. If they weren't offering both Coots/Schenn for Weber, no way they do it for AP.

Just about our total return for Carter and Richards. (minus Simmonds)

See, the thing about this is that this isn't a negotiation. This is an auction. Low-balling them isn't going to get you the player. It simply isn't that kind of transaction.

They aren't going to accept a trade they don't want. They'll match an offer sheet out of spite, then trade him 365 days later to anybody but you.

If you're in it, step up with one of your strongest offers and try to close the deal cleanly. Because, again, this isn't a negotiation.

St. Louis is going to get exactly what they want for the player, if they trade him. Low-balling is just wasting your time, and theirs.

This. STL will take the best offer, and there will be PLENTY of offers.

STL is a cup contender now. they're only going to take so many futures...
- isaiah520

The thing that makes me hopeful is they need help up front badly and have plenty of defense...Honestly I would be shopping J BO if were them and not Pietrangelo but maybe there is a internal cap in STL that they cant go over or maybe they just decided that they can fill out the rest of their roster by letting AP go....I doubt it happens but like I have said multiple times of this thread....I can hope

Agreed they could try moving J-Bo. I'd have interest in adding Jackman even.

I had the luxury of seeing him play live when he got pissed. Dear God he was an absolute terror. You could tell the other team was completely avoiding his side of the ice for about a 10-minute stretch. Basically, he's a young, healthy Pronger.

If AP really likes it in STL this is more likely just a negotiating ploy just like COL did with Bob.

Weber has all the tools Pronger did and an even harder shot but Pronger has an intangible that always finds him taking his teams to Cup Finals. Put a young healthy Pronger on the Preds and they probably win a few more playoff rounds than they shouldn't.

Giordano's pretty good, but only a slight upgrade over what we have
- isaiah520

The thing is getting the upgrade on D we need is not likely to happen. Not many available and if they are the price is very steep. I do not want to see Couturier or Schenns traded but at some point you figure it is bound to happen. Coots isn't going to stay on the 3rd line forever

I just don't see them getting the value they want in the Couterier, Read, Coburn, and 1st deal. I originally proposed that, but I think you see it more along the lines of Schenn, Simmonds, Coburn, and 1st. I'm just not sure about that deal.

This site needs an App as much as the fans of the Flyers need to stop trying to trade away 90% of our current roster.

Holmgren will clear cap space before that most likely. I don't think Gagne is a necessity on this team. We have plenty of young guys like Laughton, Akeson, Mcginn who can play on the 3rd/4th lines. Signing Gagne is more a benefit to Gagne and his fans than for the Flyers.
- phillydentist

Akeson is not a player you'd want playing on the 3rd or 4th line. He needs to be on a top scoring line, or he doesn't fit.
