I would rather see them miss out, after buying out players to make space... - 1970vintage
I thought all UFA's want to play in TO, and the only reason they do not sign in TO is because TO does not want them. |

That would make me happy too, but I like the thought of them digging themselves a big, long term hole! |

I hope they get Clarkson and overpay big time for him. I also hope Bozak walks and then they still have top 6 issues. - immature_male
If NJ were willing to overpay for Clowe think of what Clarkson wanted. I honestly thought Clarkson would take the money Clowe got to stay in NJ. This is some truly f@cked up sh!t. These guys are laughing all the way to the bank. |

This is weird, sitting back and watching other teams make mistakes. I'm sure our GM would be too if he had cap space. I'm happy the cap went down right now. - nucks_94
Gimme a break. Gillis typically does not overpay for free agents. **waits for idiotic Sundin retort** |

Wow, the money getting thrown around is ridiculous, I hope Gillis doesn't sign anyone today. Lets see what's left over tomorrow. - 1970vintage
Agreed...I don't think, actually I'm sure, we need any of these UFA's. Other than a few complimentary players, like Blum or Hannan, I hope we stay the course on UFA's.
Now trading Edler is a whole different ball game, get something done there Gillis. |

*fingers crossed* Toronto gets shut out today from all the big names - 1970vintage
I hope they stay away from "big names" they should focus on upgrading through trades and drafting. They still haven't proven anything yet, yes they made the playoffs but haven't proven they could be a playoff team over 82 games. |

We should take a chance on Redden for 900k. |

Wyatt Arndt @TheStanchion 3m
Brule, Fistric, Blum, is Tyson Sexsmith still playing? We just need two more fowards to complete the Giant line for the Canucks!
Wyatt Arndt @TheStanchion 5m
"We didn't say we wanted to get bigger, we said we wanted Giants. Capital G. Fistric and Blum, yo." explained a tired Mike Gillis

Meh, with Ballard gone I'd put Edler with Garrison (on the right side) and then you have Tanev or Corrado on the third pairing. Bring in a cheap 3rd pairing lefty, maybe Alberts signs for $1m... |

Sonds like Nonis is being smart on Clarkson, willing to hand out the $ but not the term. |

I'd like to see our 3rd pairing as Hannan - Blum, send Corrado back to Junior or the AHL to let him develop further. |

Hannan for 1 million is the most reasonable signing today (SJ). Hoping teams will get desperate for Edler soon ... |

Clarkson is worth $4 million in my opinion and Bozak nothing more than $3million.
This is the problem with some Leaf fans. They made the playoffs yes, but that was in a shortened season. So its like lets get all these top end guys and we will win the cup!
Christ you haven't made the playoffs in an 82 game season in 10 years!!! They are still a couple years away of seriously competing and paying Clarkson $6 million and Bozak $5 million is not going to help. |
