Put some ice outside Darcys office. - cabin
I'll keep that in mind haha. It would've been easier in Quinn's office considering his floor was leather |

From the Darcy interview, "We eventually had to tender Hodgson". Translation: We tried to lowball him and he rejected it or he is banking on an offer sheet. So we had to tender him an offer.
My theory is he becomes the next Ryan O'Reilly and we lose him to an offer sheet or have to trade him. Darcy has made it so nobody wants to come or stay here. He has successfully turned his LOYAL fan base against the team. I am so sick of talking poop about my hockey team, but Darcy has made it that way.
I would love to over pay for a guy like Morrow or Iginla strictly as leaders on this young team. But we all know, no Veterans will come here. No prime players will come here. The only way anyone will come here is via trade, and with all the NMC's, that will be all but impossible. So we will sit here and watch Darcy "Build through the Draft" and we are going to be the Florida Panthers of the north for the next 10 years. Thank You. That is all. - Sabres113

Speculation - RynoBull
My source tells me it's common for teams to offer lower dollar amounts than the players want in order to save money and get better deals. My source, is common sense. |

Common Sense tells me that the Sabres are going to have a hard time keeping players here. From listening to Darcy, it sounds like they tried, but were unable to resign Hodgson yet, so they "had" to tender him. Which, to me, means that we are going to have a hard time signing him. I understand how negotiating works, it sounds like Darcy took his time and put himself in a position where he had to tender him. If the Sabres consider Hodgson their #1 center, they should have started the process a lot earlier and gotten this deal done. We are not a destination where players want to be. We are going to have to use money as our bargaining chip. There will be no home team/town discounts. My guess, Darcy tried to do a 2 year deal to keep him as an RFA after his next deal, Cody probably wanted at least 3 so he can be a UFA and be potential trade bait in the '14-'15 season. Simply my opinion. |

As depresing as that is I have to somewhat agree. We are becoming a hockey hell and I'm not surprised players pass up on more money to sign somewhere else.
Darcy should have been fired years ago. No faith in him at all. Only thing he has done okay is trading. |

So what you're saying is that this is all Darcy's fault? There is no way that a player would ask for more money than he is worth? For all we know Hodgson asked for 6 million a year. |

Yes, it is all Darcy's fault. He stated a week ago that they had placed a call to his Agent and were waiting for a call back...one week before FA period. Reminds me of waiting to getBriere and /or Drury locked-up early, then they leave. Biggest moves for Sabres aren't in FA anyway, rather the Trades...but I'm sure the "market waan't there" will be touted from the GM ... Other teams can trade, but the market for our guys dosn't exist. He needs to move Miller minimally...period...no excuses. |

umm...no hes a free agent and has literally no association to the islanders, and the islanders dont want him so thats just a bad joke in general.
can you possibly say the islanders are not set up for the future? dont be bitter. the rebuilding process is a tough one so i understand your frustration. |

Hodgson is a RFA. Noone will offersheet him. Why is there a rush on getting him a new deal? I don't see alot of other teams RFA's signed yet. I guess since its Darcy we should hold him to a different standard. Also remember, Darcy had a deal in place with Drury, only to have Drury balk and go to the Rangers. |

You can speculate all you want. You really like to assume certain things just by a few words in an interview.
the fact is Players sign extensions here and we are able to attract FA's here as well. We can argue over the quality of those FA's but I don't think it has anything to do with the business side of things, more like the on ice product and coach. |

So the Sabres added no one.
Miller and Vanek are both still here.
Great work, Darcy. Great work. |

How is TJ Brennan? I believce Garth once boosted him and said he was not used properly by the Sabres org. |
