We signed that center for 5 years because we wanted to win him over, it brought is cap hit down, and if we ever want out Tampa would undoubtedly take their captain back for the final year or 2 of his contract at a mere $4.5mil/year.
- JAKEw1234

I agree with Tampa taking him back but this team has a win now approach and a team that didnt make the playoffs last year....Snider start to panic and not let players develop however if they are trading Coots or Schenn or Laughton....if they get a Ryan or Kane at least they are getting a young player in return....if they traded one of those for like a Dan Boyle type I would freak out

I don't understand what you mean.

Trading away the youth, and that youth going on to win the cup.

If they trade away young guys this time I hope its for young guys in return as you suggested.

Partly why I don't like it. I personally think Coburn (A more valuable asset than we here think, surprisingly), Read, and a couple non roster pieces like Cousins, Ghost or multiple high draft picks (not 1sts) is sufficient value for Edler.
- JAKEw1234

Edler is still possible apparently according to other sites, just if hed waive his clause which I would imagine/hope he would. Hes exactly what theyre looking for with a great cap hit.

He means they trade all there youth for other teams big names that are past there prime over aand over and dont learn from it ....the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result Flyers are definitely a little cuckoo with this

When have they ever done that before? We traded Carter and Richards but they were what, 27 when we traded them? And we traded them for like 2 22 year olds, a 19 year old, and a draft pick which ended up being Couturier. Hardly what I call trading the youth to win now.

Philly is a big market and constant playoff contender. Remember that we are 2nd all time in this league for win %. Right behind Detroit. So we're actually a pretty desirable location, but then again big name players have decided they hate us before.

That kinda scares me...if he is a true 1 with a good cap hit and I havent heard anything about him wanting out....why would Vancouver shop him

He's more of an amazing #2 than a true #1.

According to The Province, Vancouver Canucks defenseman Alexander Edler has been removed from the injured reserve list and cleared for play after spending the past three months rehabilitating from a back injury. It's not all good news, however, as Edler believes the ongoing issue will prevent him returning to 100 percent in the future.

"There haven't been any red lights. I can do everything, but that doesn't mean I'm not feeling it. Sometimes it's sore and stiff, but it was sore and stiff last year and I played 82 games."

It's these honest words which worry and relieve fans at the same time.

For Edler, this clearly means he may play out the remainder of his career in significant discomfort.

Because Vancouver has Hamhuis, Bieksa, and Garrison already and are looking for help elsewhere. If they could get a big, smooth skating, solid #3-4 (#4 on that team) dman to replace his lineup spot (Coburn), as well as a fantastic role player that will literally morph into your lineup like putty and fill whatever need you have (Read), then they're getting pretty good value for an unnecessary piece of their lineup.

I wouldnt trade Read and Coburn for Edler...If you need a 3-4 d man they can take a chance on Mez health otherwise no thanks Read and Mez for Edler and Im on board

Mez to be put down (e5)

According to my sources, Paul Holmgren is seriously considering the prospect of putting down Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Andrej Mezaros. More to come...

NHL - The Flyers are still involved in talks for Evander Kane, however talks have picked back up for Bobby Ryan, Hiller not involved.

Rich Smith

He had the Vinny rumors correct idk.
Just fun speculation

Who's Rich Smith and what's his twitter? And more importantly, is he legit?

See but that trade's a joke that they wouldn't even consider. You have to give to get. Luckily for us, Read can be replaced and more on the PK and PP by Vinny, on the 2nd line by Simmonds, and on the 3rd line by Gagne. Gagne also fits much more nicely on a 3rd line than Simmonds or Read. Coburn would obviously be replaced and more by Edler. The idea is to package Read and Coburn in order to get an upgrade on Coburn. Edler is that upgrade, and I'd more than readily trade Coburn and Read for him, but I expect it will also cost picks.
