Thought he was going to be 34? - Cptmjl
7/17/80.
I had to look it up since I could have swore he was younger.
Go for Bryz. No assets to sacrifice, cheap contract. |

Fans ALWAYS overvalue their players. Just the way it is. Someone will probably over pay for him but not anywhere near close to what these guys are expecting. I feel like I'm on the Vancouver thread from the last year - Cptmjl

What does this mean to NHL fans or even GM's for that matter? - Cptmjl
Halak had a .899sv% last year and Elliot a .907% on a very good Blues team last year.
Miller? A .916 % on our poop team.
Miller will bring back more then we all think.
That's why we aren't GM's here.

Well when Mark Streit gets paid 5.25 million dollars over five years and Clarkson wants 6 million per for 7 anything is possible. Just don't get your hopes too high so the inevitable letdown doesn't hurt so bad. Can't see a team giving too much for him and I'm not taking away anything from him when I say it. |

My hopes are not high at all. I just want Miller outta here.
This all started because a few Islander fans didn't like to hear what they are asking themselves.
Why would Ryan Miller okay a trade to the Islanders?
I was merely answering the question for "Islander guy" .

Alphie to the Hawks for 1 million a year
As much progress as Ottawa has made no cup next year
Hawks could however deliver so ....not that crazy |

Thinking he maybe has four effective years left in his career why wouldn't he? Young and up and coming team with a load of talent coming up the ranks. A star and leader in Taveras. Moving to a new arena after next season. Will be definitively competing realistically in 2 years and plausibly next season. None of the usual suspects(Detroit, Chicago, Can't see the Pens swinging it, LA) would want him bcs they are shored up with goaltending minus Philly and why would he do that? |

Well, if rumors of him being a cancer are true...
Problem is the FA goalie market is paper thin. Do you have any prospects coming up, and/or would it be worth signing Nabby for a 1yr? |

We have Nilsson who a lot say will eventually be our starter and Poulin who some say will but I say will be our backup next year and beyond. It's hard to say with goalie prospects as I'm sure you know. |

Sorry but I don't see the Islanders winning a cup anytime soon.
The Islanders were also picking guys off waivers left and right last season to hit the cap floor if I am not mistaken.
And you say other fans "over value" their players.

Hardest to develop and judge. Best bet if no Bryz is a 1-2 yr stopgap signing...if Nabby is willing to re-sign that is. |

None of us were wondering why Miller would be traded to the Islanders, you were the one who said he would never go and got pissed when we asked why. |

Quebec City is still optimistic about landing an NHL team as construction of a new $400 million arena is underway.

Guess you don't know much about the team which is fine? You definitely have no idea of what we have on the team or what we have coming up? You are correct about waiver wire pick ups but Snow will have freedom to spend when Ratner takes over operations when we move to Brooklyn. The talent that we already have which is considerable believe it or not both NHL ready and otherwise and add just a couple legit NHL FA's and we are a competitior in anyones eyes. I literally mean a couple too. One top four and a legit NHL starter. We could use a top 6 but it's not overly important IMO. We don't have the room honestly with what we have. If you don't know this then you haven't been paying attention which is understandable being a fan of another team but I do think a lot of teams and their fans took notice during the PO's last season? |
