I would have taken Briere on a 2 yr deal. Guy is money in the playoffs. Sucks they can't get anyone decent so far - pcjr307
yea briere is a little on the smaller side but he can finish and that's what we lack. he probably would've picked us too because of how much closer we are to his home than montreal. |

Listened to the whole interview, was really good stuff. Happy with AV, but have to admit I miss Torts and believe he would have made changes to the way he interacted with the media, utilized his players etc. But that's water under the bridge now. - airjan23
Who says he didnt? Hes been here for 4 years... the offense and PP has always been on the lowsy side of stuff for his whole tenure. He even came out in the media last year and said he doesnt practice offense because theyre professionals and they should be able to figure it out. |

i would love for us to make just one minor move now with toronto acquiring bolland they have no room for colborne, make them a nica package and acquire a guy like that, low cap number, huge guy with good hands |

and another thought, shouldn't we be able to help our good friends in philly by trading them DZ for simmonds? saves them a bit of cap space and they get a defenseman |

As stated earlier, the keeping of Richards had nothing to do with money. When asked why he didn't use the compliance buyout on Richards, Slats said "we're gonna be much better this year". I guess it was all Torts fault. Hmm.. |

yep, you definitely get the impression that Slats thought the team was good enough and it was the coaching that was the issue. |

No doubt, gonna be interesting as the questions keep coming Torts way in that preseason game & regular season, to see how he handles it, you know he's gonna pop off eventually.
Happy 4th to you guys btw. |

Back at you. Not one my favorite holidays, it marks an anniversary of a brutal day in my life many, many years ago. But, time waits for no man, and I've managed to carve out a pretty nice life for myself. unfortunately, others I knew weren't as lucky. |

Sorry to hear that oldschool. My Grandmother passed away July 4, 2003, bittersweet for me too. We're alive & can be good people today, that keeps me going everyday. |

I think the biggest strike against Torts, was his inability to get Gaborik and Nash clicking. After all, he had two top goal scorers, and couldn't find the answer. Clearly, he lost Gaborik along the way, giving him no freedom, and asking him to drop down way to deep in his own end to be effective. Leading to those brutal benchings. |

I just hope what we hear about the bad relationship between Arniel & Brassard is patched up, new setting, Arniel being the asst Coach hopefully all is well. I'm sure AV had to have known that before the hire. |

I'll tell you, I was surprised to hear that news. Hopefully, they clear the air and get on the right track. Its not what we need for sure. |

I think it will be fine. Brassard's older now. He's in a new city. In the short time that he's been here he's had success. Plus if there is a problem between the two, hopefully AV take no nonsense from either of them. |

They still need to sign a goalie this year... and have to resign Giroux, Couturier and Schenn next year...
I wouldnt put it passed them to do something like that. |

I doubt they qualify Mason unless he has a big turnaround. |
