I understand why they want to go after Seguin, but if making the playoffs next year is the agenda... I dont see it happening... not for a long time. - aecliptic
Moving to the East complicates matters but it can happen. They have some good pieces on the blue line and if Bob comes back and plays as well as he did last year then that makes them stronger. Another offensive weapon would help.
The reason I say they really want to make the playoffs next year has to do with sustaining interest in their market. The fans really started to come around to this team and believe in what the organization is doing. If they fall back again that could push the fans away and the Jackets need to do everything they can in the interest of their long term health in that market. |

I suggested Vinny move to LW. - aecliptic
He's played RW before in Tampa. Not sure about LW. |

Its possible here if Nash goes to LW. It would be nice to have Richards and Vinny on the same line, but I wouldnt want to put a 1st line burden on Cally too. Hes got enough on his plate being on the 2nd line and every special teams. |

Interesting. I love Step as a player. I like Kane a lot too though he whines to the officials too much for my taste. It would be worth considering. Centers are generally more valuable than wingers though. |

See, were not in a position like Boston where were so deep at C. Some of you are optimistic about Brassard, Im not, Im skeptical about him as a #2. I think it would leave us too weak down the middle. |

I like Brassard but yeah, he needs to prove it over the course of a full season here. He may; he's got the talent for it. Also, we would absolutely have to have a full bounce back from Richards. Too risky IMO. |

Well, you have Richards and Brassard at center as well. Stepan is going to make about the same amount of money as Kane.
So you bring in Kane for Stepan, and your lineup would look something like this:
Kane-Richards-Nash
Kreider-Brassard-Callahan
Hagelin-Miller-MZA
Seems more balanced to me. Playmaking centers, and finish on the wings. Third line could use some work. |

No such thing as a perfect team, I guess. Honestly, I would make that move, because I think Kane is more explosive -- the Rangers would be bigger and more dangerous with that freight train on Nash's opposite wing.
Would Winnipeg even consider it? |

Richards coming off a lackluster year, with fans wanting his ass gone. Brassard a constant under performer who hasnt lived up to the billing, cant trust him. It could go 1 of 2 ways...
It will work and things will take off like crazy... or
It will fall apart, consistency cant be found and we will be a fringe team again...
Guess which one I think we will end up. |

Our best best to get Nash a winger is either the #5 pick or Skinner. |

Ooh that's tough ![:aah:](https://hbcf.s3.amazonaws.com/images/emoticons/ahh.gif) gun to my head I say no. Kane's attitude is a negative
If we trade with the peg, Wheeler for DZ is a good trade. Gives a good forward with speed size and finish. And maybe they could give us a pick |

If you ask me the big deal that is most likely to happen, I think Staal for Skinner. I thought that a few months ago. And, I think it now. It just makes too much sense, but the obvious x factor is Staal's health, which I am not sure whether any of us has a full picture about. |

The Kane attitude thing is overblown, and I don't even want to get into a discussion as to why. And who really cares if he isn't a choir boy. Patrick Kane beats up cab drivers, and goes on fraternity party benders while wearing a unicorn mask ![](https://hbcf.s3.amazonaws.com/images/emoticons/lol.gif) , and he just won the Conn Smythe Trophy, and has two cup wings. |

Its up to Sather, the doctors and Staal to prove his health. Im sure a trade will be contingent on Carolina giving him an extensive work out and physical. |

Honestly, Skinner's long term health has to be a question mark for the Rangers too. I think this move, or a similar one, could happen. I'd be a little nervous about our D corps again but again, like you said, there is no perfect team. |

If the Rangers make that move, they would then have a Top 5 of Girardi, McDonagh, Del Zotto, Moore, and Stralman, and then you either can give that 6th spot spot to Eminger or McIlrath (if he's ready), or go sign some veteran on the short-term (a Rozsival type). |

It will have to be Eminger on the cheap, and maybe sign Hannan as a 7th defenseman. Furthermore, we obviously dont resign Clowe.
Keep in mind, by trading Staal for Skinner were adding 2 million to our salary. |
