Is that what your buddy with the Canucks thinks? lol
- djamon

I think that's what EVERY hockey fan thinks. There's no denying the fact that the Leafs handled the pressure brilliantly. When the chips were down in game 7 and they were facing elimination they some how battled back and gave up a pile of goals late in the game. As if that wasn't enough, they were led by their heart and soul players who willed them to an over time loss. What a performance by the Leafs. A battle for the ages that will go down in history.
I wish Schneider handled pressure like Optimus Reim.

Woah, woah, woah. Sensitive bunch in here today.
Gonna take you guys a while to get over that epic game 7 collapse I guess, huh?
But I agree with your tactics. Much easier to deflect and bring up other teams short comings when someone points out the epic collapse your team just went through.
Even though Reimer imploded, he's still the best goalie in the country though. Hopefully he can protect the lead like that for Canada.

actually, this is funny.

on a side note i fricken hate the salary cap and hate having to pay the lightening and others to buy out players. i hate guaranteed contracts. teams will love the buyout, as will players and in the next cba teams will be able to do this at will. it benefits everyone. a hybrid of a guaranteed contract. i love it.

On this we agree, I think he already waited too long. If Gillis manages a trade fans won't like what comes back.

I'd buyout Lu and trade Bieksa and Kesler, that's $14.9m in cap savings which would allow you to give Booth another chance. Maybe Ballard sticks with a new coach.

I've read this comment from you for the last couple days and felt the need to give my opinion. I think you are sadly mistaken if you think Vancouver can win the Cup without these two. When healthy these 2 players and Burrows score some of the biggest goals in the playoffs. The Sedins aren't enough for this team to win it all.

Too much, just wait a week and sign him as an UFA...
- 1970vintage

What a great idea, I wonder why no one has thought of that with Luongo...

Oh, wait that's what any team interested in him is waiting for!

To Van- nothing

To any team- Luongo

Makes perfect sense.

buy him out. the team has to eat it's mistake and has to do what's right for the player if they hope to retain status as a desireable location. torts might make it tougher to get players so the last thing they need is to make it even harder on themselves.

buy out Lu, buy out Ballard, trade edler, keep booth on IR, send offer sheet to pietrangelo

They're going to wait until Lou is a UFA?

Eight Years or whatever?

Make perfect what?

what happened to the buds was awful. We looked dumb. Having said that, you guys looked worse, can't deny that. It's like leaf fans chirping a team like Dallas, saying 'ha Jamie benn is your first line centre lol'. We don't have a first line centre. We overachieved and took a damn good team to 7 games in OT regardless of how it ended. You guys were supposed 'cup contenders' had home ice and didn't win a game. I'm fine with our playoffs; are you fine with yours?

disagree. I didn't see any problem with Reimer in that collapse. Not one of those goals was directly his fault. I'd blame the team in front of him but I didn't see a softie in that bunch.

Yes, I know. I just don't want some other crazy GM setting the price for Petro. Really hope the deal gets done before some clown offers him something crazy.

Could see someone like Philly offering him 6.5-7 Mil a year.

I think he will end up getting somewhere close to that if the Blues sign him. I am worried someone will go higher. If Philly is trying to sign him to an offer sheet, I get real nervous as they are likely to go real crazy.

They'd have to offer more if they thought they could steal him. $7M would be the starting point, anything less is guaranteed to be matched. It would probably take in the $8M range for St Louis to consider not matching. Remember, they can't offer 14 year deals anymore.

Meh, I don't think they'll win the cup with them. Gillis says he wants to make bold moves, there are two bold moves that in my opinion can change the complexion of the team drastically and hopefully inject some young players for the future.

Yeah, buyout, waivers, trade for scrap, whatever. Gillis should have dumped Luongo the instant those first words came out of his (Lu's) mouth after the loss to LA. It's all been downhill from there.

Not with you on this one... Guys like Bieksa & Kesler are an on-ice extension of what Torts brings to this team. We need them to bridge the gap.

one thing a GM should never do either is set his asking price to media. It never ends up looking like a good deal after that.

as much as I dislike Kesler's diving antics and Bieksa's habit of throwing down with nonfighters, I would think moving either or both would seriously impact the toughness and grit on the Canucks in a negative way.
