It's not necessarily the value that has me saying no; it's just the fit. I think that the Lightning is really trying to get younger here. While not 'old', Kesler's body has taken an absolute beating over the last couple of years. I'd rather keep the guy we're going to get at three and bank on him being as good if not better than Kesler in the long-run.
- Michael_Stuart

You'd be perfectly fine saying that the value isn't good enough, either.

Top three this year are pretty special.

This is probably the only trade for Lou that they will get. Nobody is giving up anything for him when they know he will be bought out. At least trading him for Ricky D saves the Canucks 4.6 million dollars of actual money spent.

You are ridiculous. placing him on waivers saves them another $20 million, why take back DiPietro?

They would need Lu to agree to it, though.

Not sure that will happen.

If I'm Lu's agent, I'm probably advising him to sit tight and refuse any deal.

Take the money and become a UFA. Sorry, Canuckleheads, but that's a no-brainer.

I'm not quite sure what any of those goalies on your list has actually proved, beyond Brodeur, who's one year from retirement, and Ward, who hasn't won a playoff series since 2009.

Anderson, seriously?

I'm not saying Schneider has proved anything either, but get a grip. Its fine if you would rather start a team with Hiller than Schneider, that's your prerogative, but I don't recall him proving he's a cup winning goalie...

Anderson was considered by some to be a vezina candidate before he got hurt. He played pretty damn well with all the injuries. So, yes, Anderson. As a leaf fan, i hate the sens but anderson played unreal this year.

Even top five should be fantastic. I'm comfortable with any one of them.

This is my favorite comment.

Temper your hopes, as you're sure to be disappointed when a deal or buyout finally gets done.

- Michael_Stuart

I don't have high hopes but I think the rest of the hockey world will feel dissapointed when we only get a first rd pick, a prospect & a roster player for him.

Only if another team claims him.

Which I do think would happen, but it's not guaranteed.

So Anderson's 20 games constitutes him proving something but Schneider's doesn't?

And you know this how?

You don't think the Flyers, who have no starting goalie wouldn't pick him up for free?

If you get that much for Luongo, I'll send you a hand-written letter of apology with a picture of me eating crow attached. You implied that the team has '5 or 6' better offers than Pietrangelo for Luongo ready to go. That's pretty much the definition of high hopes.

Gillis is just stubborn enough to trade / buyout other players to get under the cap and keep Luongo on the bench as a backup

either way, we are not going to change eachother's minds. I think schneider has all the tools to be very good. I just feel he hasn't proven anything yet, hasn't played more than 33 games in a season and has 1 win in 10 playoff appearances.

My main post was that Lou should be kept and schneider dealt. I think if you could get a forward for Corey you guys have a chance to win (and the window is closing).

This going back and forth was a great distraction from work though, I must say.

Yes, I'm sure all the Sens players are polishing up their ECQF rings as we speak, and sending a text to 'Andy' for his stellar performance.

Except then, because he only has a NTC and not a NMC the Canucks can put him on waivers and he has absolutely zero control over where he ends up.

Thanks for the no-brainer though.

again, i hate the sens. You can't argue that anderson hasn't accomplished more than schneider. I playoff series win - 1 playoff win in 10 games. That ends it. Remember it was bobby lou who took you guys to the finals.
