If the rumor is true that Holmgren is trying to trade Coburn to get a forward for Briere's replacement, he should be fired STAT.

We are just creating more holes to fill existing ones and never getting out of this cycle.

It would only be acceptable if the return is for a top 10 pick that doesn't sacrifice the #11.

There is a lot of buzz about Nichkushin, but isn't there two other Russian prospects who are expected to go within the first three rounds? I thought they were pretty highly regarded also.

I'm not saying that I agree with trading Coburn. I guess it really depends on the return. But what if he makes another move to replace Coburn?

Rumor I just read was Read Coburn and 11th for 6th and 28th.

Not buying any of them to be honest.

I was pumped for the NHL draft, but Hinke has me waiting on the edge of my seat for Sunday.

He was trying to trade Turner for a late first but no team would take the bait. I still expect him to move him at some point.

Think the Flyers could get more if they traded both players in separate deals.

I think Hinkie eventually acquires Chandler Parsons from Houston. I think he is a RFA this year or next.

I was just looking around for what a team that would need Turner. The good thing about Turner is his contract expires. if they can't get a decent chip just hold him until the 13/14 deadline and get what you can.

I cant say I disagree.

It does appear Coburn and the 11th are being heavily shopped for the 5-7th picks. I just hope they dont pull the trigger on that deal just to take Nurse.

Houston has a team option on Parsons this year and next year. I was just looking at Houston.

The cycle of creating holes to fill them continues if he makes another move to replace Coburn...

Forwards are easier to replace in this organization than dmen. Replace them from within. Keep as many under 30 top 4 dmen as you can, ie, Coburn, Gus, etc. Mesz is the one to trade due to unreliable history of injuries.

A lot will depend on who is there. There's always a team that makes a surprise pick and changes everything.

Interesting. I would consider that one. It would be a rebuild kind of move. I would assume Homer would then target some UFAs or make more trades if he cared about next year (which we all know he does).

That would absolutely suck if we have to sacrifice Coburn because we won a few extra meaningless games in the last week of the season.

I hate this organization sometimes.

Good catch, I was just reading the same thing after I wrote my post. His contract is very unique for a 2nd round pick being a four year contract.

Have to see the return before coming to any conclusions. The bottom line for any trade is, does it make the team better. I'm against trading Coburn if there isn't another defenseman coming back, either in that deal. Or in a separate one. If the Flyers add a good forward, and also get a defenseman as good, or better then Coburn is. How is that not a good thing for the team?

That would be the next step, maybe Scuderi with the cap savings from Coburn.

20 goal scorer, plays very solid two way game, good speed, excellent conditioning, good on the powerplay, outstanding on the PK, plays all 3 forward spots...there's a lot to like about him.

That's a huge IF. No one is offering up a good forward and a Coburn level dman for Coburn. What are you smoking?

The GM scouted him years ago I think. I probably butchered that actually. @DLEED has the history on his timeline

Where did I say I expect Laviolette to get canned?

you don't think lavi will change and yet you think they will make the plyoffs. not entirely irreconcilable, but it seemed as if you think the flyers need to make systematic changes in the recent past.

Would like it better if CGY added another pick.
