Just for fun, not sure if any cred. He did list the Tor LA trade before it happened.

NHL Rumors ‏@NHLRumorsDaily 7m
Hearing as of now that the Flyers offer for Miller is Coburn+Read+1st for the All Star Goaltender

- ImThatGuy

LOL...?

It is a disgrace if that is what is up for grabs. Shipping a defenseman and our first(which might also turn out to be a defenseman) for a goalie.

This rumor is just too horrible.

way over payment - they are not trading their 1st round pick - plus, that'll be like 8 million just for the goalies. I don't think so.

Several reports indicate that Kevin Shattenkirk is close to a 4 year deal with the Blues.

Per Andy Strickland, it's 4 years, $17mm

I think I know what the Flyers are going to do. This in no way shape or form is me being supportive, but it's fairly logical. The Flyers have made it no secret that they think extremely highly of Laughton's ability. While I think they love Coots, I do see them moving him for some form of "top" defenseman (in their mind) and let Laughton shoulder that load.

Next I see them feeling they can then move a Coburn and Read+ for B. Ryan. Figuring they have now added the winger that is coveted to put next to Giroux. Meszaros will also be moved, perhaps at the draft for a later pick, 4th or higher. Hopefully, they figured out a way to keep their first and if they have, they will take the best available forward, thinking they have perhaps solved their defensive issues by picking up who they trade Couts for. Lastly, they attempt to get Luongo, but with that being uncertain they possible fall back on a lesser option.

This type of plan fits the Flyers mold. While I'm against trading Couts, it does have some sort of sense to it.

Ritch Winter, Bryzgalov's agent, was on Oilers Talk

Had a few tidbits:

Dan Tencer ‏@dantencer 6m

Winter uses the word "deception" to describe Holmgren telling him initially that Bryzgalov would not be bought out.

Dan Tencer ‏@dantencer 3m

Wow. Winter ANNIHILATES system in Philly. Says it's brutal for goalies. No clear lanes, can't see the puck, goalie coach no authority etc.

Dan Tencer ‏@dantencer 2m

Ritch Winter says Bryzgalov would "actively consider Edmonton". Sounds like they are absolutely targeting the Oilers as a landing spot.

A player has to grow into being a game breaker. Jake Voracek was in the top 20 in the League in scoring, and in the top 10 in the League in goals scored. He is as much a par tof the future of this team as any other player is.
- MJL

I'm not even a little bit convinced that even Jake Voracek is a game breaker. Yes, he is coming off a wonderful season and he's finally take big steps in his 5th season in the NHL. Some players such as Giroux, Richards and Carter have taken these steps much sooner within their careers. I still need to see more from Voracek. He piled up the points and finally hit 20 goals but I haven't seen very many clutch moments by anyone on this team. I'm talking stud. I'm talking star, if not super star. I hope the Flyers are ready to make a splash and bring back real star power to philly.

That'd be a vast overpayment, considering Miller's on the last year of his deal, and the other options available via trade or free agency.

Totally agree.. People forget how good they have been over the past 30 years.. from 79-80 up until the lockout they hadnt missed the playoffs.. they had a few bad years after that, were patient about it, and are now reaping the benefits.

When you have a player like Shattenkirk on you team getting his first RFA deal, it makes it easy. Flyers didnt have that option

they are going to lock up those two studs on D, and they have an amazing pipeline of forwards coming in.

if they had managed to beat LA who knows how far they would have made it this year.
