I sure as hell hope we've seen the last of Hemmer in an Oil uni.... - Iggysbff
As do I, and I think he will be moved. Horcoff won't be bought out I dont think. If we get no trade for him then we'll suck it up with him for another 3/4ths of a season or so. (Minus the Captaincy,of course). |

I want to restock the prospect cupboards and let a bunch of guys develop a while. - Iggysbff
(frank)ing rights man. We will eventually trade one of the kids for awesome assets, but that isnt going to happen until a prospect developes into a fine replacement and said "Kid" is now expendable. |

Well ,I am as impatient as a mother(frank)er, but that leads to stupid ideas and knee jerk trades that (frank) us in the long term. Mac T will figure out how to replace Jones, Petrel, belanger,Smithson etc no problem. We already replaced Hemsky a year ago, so any asset we get for him could be used for a depth forward position, Sh!tney has alreadt been replaced (and UPGRADED). The one area Mac T may have to sacrifice an okay roster player is if he strikes out with Boyd Gordon (or a comparable player) as our 3C in Free agency. The rest can be had. - Jeropotato
At this point I'm even on side with MacT taking a chance on a UFA. If they don't work we dump em ala Jagr to a cup contender for a 1st plus. |

Oilers have made a long-term contract extension offer to him. From what I've heard the two sides are close. So close, in fact, that a new deal could be announced by the end of the day. - Maxbone
i though i just read a few hours ago that he was close to being dealt? so who is right ek or clout? |

There are dozens of better bottom 6 wingers than Petrell ,Jones and Hemsky (useless in a checking role). And most of them are cheap.
Who do you think the Oilers should target for the 3C spot if Horcoff gets moved? |

I'm warming to trading with Dallas. 7th for 10th and 29th.
We get Horvat (or Lindholm or Monahan if they slip) and get an extra late pick. - Iggysbff
Shouldn't the oil be looking at putting a package together to get a top end d ... A big center or power forward ?

Lindholm has had a better PPG than backstrom did at the same age. He's 58% in the dot and apparently a pretty good 2 way guy. I'd take him if Monahan isn't there. He's better than Monahan just a lesser fit. Huge dropoff from Lindholm to Nurse - TheNugeIsHuge
Big fan of lindholm |

Not yet. Problem is that we dont have enough NHL calibre assets. Nobody wants our garbage, and moving a good player creates too big a hole we can't fill from the prospect pool.
We are going to have to settle for value contracts and short term UFA's for aqt least another year while we develope some Jr and AHL players. |

yes.
it would have to be built around the 7th overall though. but id be willing to add in almost any prospect, hemsky, possibly even prv depending on the caliber of player coming our way.
im struggling to get my head around how an 18 year old drafted kid could possibly be better than a proven 27 year old top 4 dman. even with adding in one of our prospects who only might someday be good enough. we're not talking Nathan mackinnon here. anyone we pick at 7 is a question mark at the next level.
it's true our prospect pool isn't deep, but why do we want more kids instead of proven nhl'ers? so that we can continue to say our nhl roster is young and not ready, but hey we have a good number of guys in the minors who might someday make the squad?
im all for trading the 7th. we're going into year 4 of the rebuild, I think we absolutely should be pushing for the playoffs next year. and not just through words. I really don't feel good about those kids losing for another year. not only that, but i don't think it has to handcuff our future to go this route either. |

I strongly believe NYR turns down that deal instantly.
It'd take Eberle+7th to get McD |
