As you know I'm not a Carle fan at all. So I can't get on Holmgren for letting Carle walk. I'm ok with the Schenn for JVR deal. I believe the Flyers traded JVR when his stock was at an all time low, but I think it's a trade that will benefit both teams in the long run.

There are certainly glaring holes the Flyers have to address. I'm cautiously optimistic it can get done.

Holmgren tried legitimately to add Weber, he gets an A for effort there. Wasting time on trying to sign guys like Parise and Suter who everyone knew were not realistic options were my main issue.

- PLindbergh31

Holmgren has his work cut out this summer. I would prefer the Flyers go with younger players like McGinn, Axeson, Laughton, Cousins, Laurdisen, and Gustafsson.

Agree on Mcginn, Gusty, and Laughton. I believe Axeson and Lauridsen are minor league depth players.

I voted for make no moves/ other. I would like to see them sign a free agent defenseman or at worst offer sheet Bernier if it is even available. I don't want to see them overpay for an overrated asset like Ryan or Yandle.
- MBFlyerfan

Thats the problem with poll question such as this one...It all depends on what you would give up...I guess I would be ok with Read for Bernier, but Jake for Bernier is ridiculous...same with Ryan...I would love to see him along side Giroux but like you said not giving up 11 to acquire him....if we could put a package of Coburn, a later pick and a prospect then go for it.

Actually...I am. Too much of a country club here. He'll hold guys accountable and they'll not be used to that, should be interesting!

He'll certainly do that, and then some

Coburn's a competitor. He's going to have a rebound year this coming season and I want him to do it with the Flyers.

They would never move Jake for Ryan or Bernier
wouldn't make sense

I understand why the Ducks would want to move him, to get the best package before he's a FA & expects what the Getzlaf & Perry got, but I don't know why Phoenix would want to move Yandle? I see Shattenkirk as a more viable possibility.

Will see. I have no problems going with youth than spending big money on UFA.

None. Although I am open to a Read for Bernier deal, despite not being crazy about it. I'd perfer to Buyout Bryz, sign a cheap vet, re-up Read and draft Pulock or Ristolianen.

If anyone seriously thinks this team needs to trade for Bobby Ryan at this time then I have no doubt in my mind those people dont have a clue about building a successful, well rounded team.

I believe the way to build is through the draft. That requires patience, something ownership lacks. Of course free agency and trades have to be mixed in accordingly.

Adding high priced old players like Streit, is something that should only be done when a team believes it is a player away from contending for a Cup. Unfortunately the Flyers as currently constituted do not fit that bill.

I voted none.

I love Bobby Ryan and he'd look good on Claude's wing, but he's not a pressing need right now. He'd be more of a luxury up front to distract from our still subpar D in my mind.

I like Bernier and if Read's agent let it be known he's looking for his big payday next year then I could live with a swap (this would be my vote if I was forced to pick one of the players). Would just hope one of Bernier or Mason grab the starting job and then hopefully move the other next offseason and pair the one we keep with a veteran backup.

Again, I like Yandle but if that rumored asking price still exists, umm no thanks.

I will officially root for another team if we trade for Big Buff. He is the exact opposite of the type of player the Flyers need.

My main target if I was forced to make a trade would be Edler.

Absolutely. I don't have patience for it. Having an almost 4 decade Cup drought and a passionate fan base makes it hard to do. But as we have seen, the current blueprint that they are using isn't working.

I would agree. I think Streit will help move the puck and QB the PP. Still not a fan of a 36 year old getting 4 years at 5.25M cap hit.

Yup. Streit will help in the short term, it's the back end of the deal that could hamstring them from doing things.

Why are there still Shea Weber rumors? You don't commit $25M to your captain for 48 games and then ship him out...unless Crosby is coming back in return.

Personally, I don't see a trade to be made. Draft Pulock/Ristolainen, let the young core continue to play, and pray that for once, the team isn't ravaged by injuries.

- jmatchett383

Couldn't the Flyers agree to pay the Preds part of that $25M in whatever deal was proposed?

I think I read around here that last year/at the deadline the Coyotes wanted Schenn, Couturier, ++ for Yandle. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong on that, of course it was all rumors.

That's why I'm on the fence, depending on what's available when it comes to holding on to Courturier or the 11th pick.

They've operated for years of being & staying competitive, regardless of how far it has gotten them, at least we've for the most part had something to be excited for, they could never deal a pick, build from the draft, never sign anyone expensive, and still suck after 5 years of waiting.

the carle thing looks worse w/ the streit signing, but I'm not going to try to sway you there. i think most are coming around to the reality that there seems to be no plan or durable philosophy other than trying their best yr to yr.

Without question. Mentioned that the other day after two years people will be all over him and that contract.
