I was thinking the same, but he has stated that he wants his role to be clarified before he signs - which is a direct consequence of Bylsma not knowing how to use him best... - mventres
the lines would look soooo balanced with
12-87-19
14-71-18
24-16-36

Agreed, but I wouldn't resign Cooke...he's a poop disturber in the locker room. I like the idea of going after Clowe, I think he would bring a lot to the table that the pens are currently missing... |

I disagree. Not about Clowe. He'd fit in fine. I think Cooke is highly respected in the room. Great penalty killer and secondary scorer. I'd welcome him back. |

Wouldn't resign Cooke, but would Clowe? Clowe is a retard. He takes more dumb penalties than does Neal or Malkin or even Cooke. He really doesn't bring much. Cooke is a poop disturber in the locker room? You might want to explain how you know this. |

I think trading Neal is backwards...what do you want in return, a young power forward?? lol...just keep Neal, he's young, fits in well, signed pretty cheaply for his talent level, etc etc...doesn't make any sense to trade him.
I would consider trading Kunitz though. He's UFA at season end, but is mid-30's soon and coming off a career season...his value will never be any higher and could bring back a really nice return, plus make room to sign a guy like Clowe...if Iggy is willing to play 3rd line+PP and take a discount, I think that would be great too...
Clowe - Crosby - Dupuis
Bennett - Malkin - Neal
Jokinen - Sutter - Iginla
Adams - Vitale - ??
Glass
Letang - Despres
Martin - Orpik
Niskanen - Engelland
Vokoun
Bernier
* Assuming the Bernier deal I stated previously.
I haven't done the cap numbers but it should be very close... - mventres
Clowe with Crosby?
You honestly want Iggy back? There is alot of yuck in this idea IMO.
So, you deal Kunitz, get rid of Fleury to keep an old and declining Iginla and bring in Bernier to play backup AGAIN? Again, alot of Yuck. This team would get bounced early in the play-offs.

I still say go after edm and nash.. they will give more..
but I like ur thought on getting the top pick then trading down, might be able to get a 1st and second from someone.... and get more things out of a trade... but all in all I ll be happy either way, if he stays or goes... whats better for this team - nh4442
NH, if you get the 1st pick overall, you can trade with Calgary or Buffalo for all their first round picks (3 pics each!) |

Disagree about Cooke. He's a guy you want to keep on your roster. The only knock on him is being Matt Cooke. Referees call a lot of BS on him. Clowe would be great for this team too...but I'm afraid to say he'll be too expensive for us. I would only want Iggy back for a cheap price and if he goes through the Gary Roberts program alongside James "One Dimensional" Neal |

I'm baffled why someone would want to dispatch Cooke and bring in a worthless Clowe, who would cost more. Makes no sense. Clowe was beyond putrid indeed.

Not one goal with the Sharks. Only 3 with the Rags and I think 2 were against a disorganized Pens team. Hell of a contract year! |

That said, I'd take him on this roster for $2M on a tryout year. Sign Iggy to a similar contract and send them all packing with Neal to Gary Rob. Let them deal with da man
I don't know what to think about Briere. Anyone interested? |

Clowe isn't worth 2 million. To me, Cooke is more valuable than Ryane Clowe would be. Why sign him for a year? I CAN'T stand bringing in fringe players on a year tryout.
Iggy for 2 million? LOL.
Pass on Briere. I have no desire to root for him. I think he'd be a waste of money.

I don't think any of those guys will be paid less than $2M per. If I could bring both for $3.5-4M, together, I'd probably do it....but as I said...they need to go through training and a regimen, badly. |

How about no. Clowe has very few redeeming qualities. Iggy is on the decline.

If they can move fleury for some picks and land Berber for less hit than fleury that would be huge. They would have more cash to spread amongst the other free agents and could probably keep letang. They could also afford to move niskanen for more picks and replace him via free agency. |

If you've got teams calling that's a good thing. If you trade within the division the price is always higher. I have no idea what I would expect from the wild in return. |

Why the hell would the Isles call about Fleury, after seeing first hand what he did in the playoffs against them? If they called it was probably only to ask if the Pens actually thought they would get something in return. |
|
|
|
Probably in the minority here but I think this series has been boring. Close, yes. Just boring |

Yea probably thinking they could pay a cheap price. Isles always have a tough time attracting free agents so they have to pull deals like this. After a short time players than seem to realize its a good organization. |

Would be more fun if they didnt swallow their whistles. I get it. You call one you have to call it all. Its just a shame playoff hockey has devolved so much since the lockout |

I don't think they will have that same problem now that they are moving to Brooklyn. |

Thomas won't play a single game for them. Would you trust the team behind Nabakov or Poulin? They are worse than Fleury. |

Yes they are rewarding teams with old time clutching and grabbing tactics... Teams just have to realize a way around it. Otherwise they look like Mike Gillis complaining hockey has gone this route and it's unfair. The best players just need to be the best. Crying to the refs about not enforcing the rules is the worst thing to do... |
