On the current Pens team (aside from Crosby) is there a captain? A guy who, when you're down by a goal going into the 3rd, he can get everyone going just by looking them in the eye? That's the kind of guy Guerin was, he just commanded that respect. - jmatchett383
You look at the biggest game they have won in the last 10 years and it was Max Talbot that scored both goals.
Maybe just luck...but Talbot did have a way of doing things like that...at least that season.
Someone always needs to step up if you are going to be a championship team.
As much as I don't really follow basketball...James did it last night.
Seabrook is a guy that has done it for the Blackhawks...apparently on and off the ice.
Iginla and Morrow clearly were brought in for some of that...maybe they needed to be a little more vocal...but it points to something that is missing from the team maybe? |

Talbot's a perfect example. I know he was no longer in Pittsburgh's plans, but to me, he's pretty much the epitome of a hockey player. Take whatever natural talent you have, work your ass off to maximize it, give 100% every shift, and be able to grow a kick-ass beard. |

He wasn't giving all of that in his last couple seasons with us. Sorry. You guys paid too much for what he was bringing at the time.
Edit: I believe he was offered 3 years @ $1M per. Big difference... |

Just a random thought cuz i know its hypathetical and impossible, but would Pens fans be down for a Letang and Dupuis swap for Kaner and Seabrook? |

I'd do that in a second (from a Pens perspective). Only concern is the cap hits that Kane/Seabrook bring. |

You cant blame Shero for going out and doing everything he could to build the best line up that he possibly could have. He literally tried to fix every hole he could from signing Vokun to a nothing deal, to getting murray for the back end and building one, if not the best offenses (on paper) of all time.
However throwing as many stars on a team as you possibly can and assuming you will win a cup never works as well as people think.
The penguins team was good enough to win a cup already before all of the trades. When you have the best 2 players in the world then you should really build around them.
Teams win championships with chemistry and teamwork (i.e the bruins) and with a shortened season I just dont think iggy had enough time to gell with the team.
Malkin and neal plus crosby should really be all the offense you ever need. Plus Dupper and Kunitz's numbers speak for themselves.
I did like the morrow trade but I think the pens should have looked more towards a Jaybo type of player deal (or at least a cheaper one).
The pens are still an amazing team, but I think they should go for more depth (also loved the Jussi deal as well).
Can't wait and see what they do in the off season. |

"Dupuis only gets this many points cause he plays with Crosby" - Orpik44
Dupuis got that many points because he CAN play with Crosby. He plays the game at such a fast pace many players are not able to keep up and it has been frequently documented. I am not saying give the guy over 4, but considering he was a "throw in" in the hossa deal you guys really hit the jack pot. |

I love Seabrook, he scores clutch goals, but he's been injured. Even healthy though he's not overall better than Letang. Kane gets the edge over Dupuis, but i still think Dupuis could play on a line with Toews and produce big time and for a slightly cheaper price. Letang would help our PP big time too. That said, its so close to me, id probly still keep Kane and Seabs, but i was just curious... - SimpleJack

Prayers to Calgary and hope they recover fast. Apparently there'll be rain until tuesday!
Some quotes:
Iggy's 4 million dollar house (that he is probably really glad he just sold) is in one of the Evac areas.
Some misplaced jokes...
The Flames finally have one of the deepest prospect pools in the NHL
Taking this rebuild thing a little too seriously. |

I just looked at Dupuis' stats. He's only broken 40 points once as a Penguins (pro rated to be higher for last season) and aside from this past year, he hasn't produced much in the playoffs.
I'm not saying the guy stinks, far from it. But just looking at that, it's a lot of money to throw at him, intangibles and all. |

He's an excellent PKer. Good character and leader. Produces as a winger and can play C. Can be put in any line. We are not paying him above $3-3.5M, trust me. In Shero we trust. (I hope I'm right) |

I'll give you the intangibles, but I just figured he'd have a few more points. I mean, I'd probably pick up an assist or 2 on Crosby's line. Again, not taking a shot at the guy, I was just a bit surprised. |

Since he arrived in Pittsburgh, I think his biggest pay check was $1.8M per. I think that's pretty good isn't it. He's very dependable. He's never a liability while on the ice. He's a good two-way guy. Look around the league...so many guys being paid to score only and still gets less points than Dupuis.
He's just a special player to have for his all around game. He's +75 since he arrived in Pittsburgh...amazing huh? |

That is impressive. Like I said, he does a ton aside from scoring that definitely warrants consideration. I just thought he had a few more points is all. |
