Just go out and play - by 2 minutes into the first period, the Bruins had the "no Hossa" game plan in shape.
It's hockey, not brain surgery, not rocket science, not inside baseball, for God's sake. - StLBravesFan
exactly... the brief element of surprise vs allowing a guy that hasn't played in forever to take warmups before his post season debut... seems like common sense to me would tell you the latter.
that's not what lost the game obviously but just points to the bigger picture of over-thinking everything... changing up lines that were working to end last series, power play woes, etc |

his shoulder popped out. popped it back in and got a shot to play the next game. shoulder has been hurt since his fight with iginla right before the season ended. - Fountain-San
Hossa's been playing hurt all season after he was knocked out cold from Scumbag last season. So it's ok for Horton to take himself out of a game, but it is not ok for Hossa to do the same thing? WEAK! |

We all could see the gap. The team has surprised us all with their toughness but we really need 2-3 designated hitters/grinders.
Would love to see that trade.
Watching the Toews beatings and the lack of response from Stalberg last night says it all.
Targets - Hendricks, Martin, Clowe, Z Smith.... What a difference one of those guys would make in this series. Face offs, team toughness etc... - tredbrta
Watching Toews take a beating and not bury his opponent like Jordan would have is an insult to Chicago sports fans. |

The strategy of dump and chase with the hope that Kane will win the physical battle in the corner is getting very annoying. - HajdukChicago
Using their speed should help that: Bruin players have to turn around and start skating, Hawks should have their wings skating at almost full speed when the puck crosses the line.

The only problem is the linesmen will call offsides to slow the play down! |

That's the problem I have with him. It's bad enough to be a dirty player and run your mouth, but to run away when you get called on it ... - Q...argh
Same here. That break out year when they went to the finals he looked like a great, hard nosed agitator like Bolland (at his peak). The following 2 years he has turned into a good player and a cheap, gutless agitator like Burrows. |

Then don't go offsides.
It's a timing play: it's what you work on in practice. |

But the commissioner wants Toews to be beaten down. His favorite moment in the last 20 years has been handing Toews the MVP award in 2010 and knowing the team was going to get torn up! |

Judgement call for the linesmen. At times they can control the flow of the game.

I feel your pain John. But your team is pretty solid. Don't let a beat down by the Bruins change your opinion too much. Your team is good. I watch Boston against the Leafs in the forst round. They did the same to us. IF Chicago has any chance they need o get inside of Rasks head, and the way you do that is bump him. often. but he's had a protected field day. And stop the line matchups. Just play a faster game.
Good luck in the rest of the series. |

Oh not to say I wouldn't love the Beak on the Hawks. But Marchand is more an agitator with no real interest in dropping the gloves. Shaw, while reducing his fighting load since coming up, is more than willing to dance. Not that who can beat whose ass is going to mean the difference in the series...I mean, other than Patrick Sharp has there been a better forward for the Hawks than Shaw? - kwolf68
How's this, The beak is calling Shaw a Kitty Cat says Shaw gouged his eyes, what a douche bag |

Which is why that line should be 29-19-88, making 29's job to get it deep and keep it there so 19 and 88 can do their skill thing.

You are talking about a guy who splayed himself across the goal when his goalie went down, meaning he was willing to take a slapper ANYWHERE on his body to stop a puck from getting through. Move on. |

Questioning his character/saying he was afraid of the Bruins?
Hossa is wearing a harness now like Sharp and Horton (I think?). Shoulder may have popped out just like Horton's or it may have been something else.
Not really a player who avoids competition so stop insinuating it. |
