That was embarrassing. Nobody went to the net tonight and there forecheck and hitting was obsolete. They played like a bunch of pussies absolutely embarrassing. As much as I support them they won't win anothet game unless they do the things that jj spoke of in the blog i can't believe your hottest player has been left for dead on the third line put Bickell up with toews already. It's not over yet but the fat lady is getting ready. Boys dig deep please !! |

Sad response from these guys. Needed a major bounce back game and you get shut out. Nice. This team needs a rebuild. Hockey has gone back to its in the trenches style. Kane is MIA. 6 million a year and you cant get in there Patrick? 19 must be hurt. Even still, hes in there giving effort. Don't know what to say, but if they don't win game 4, its over. This PP, OMFG. Blame Tampon, but that brain child Q hired him after the Cup winning Kings canned him for a schit PP. Guess what Q... the PP still f'n sucks. Done.. not gonna get pissed. Im enjoying the finals but damn this sucks. - z1990z

It's sounding like the injury happened earlier and he was a game time decision. They knew all day he may not play. |

Fire everyone, trade 19+88
Man, if only they would have played Carcillo - AceRatbang
Great game by Stalberg.....almost had 2 goals if he had any skill.
Even better by Bolland...2 god awful penalties and a very nice play being dominated on goal 1.......
All this team does is.....talk, talk, talk..... |

Sharp....feel for this guy. Busting his @ss every shift. Best player outside of Crawford. Hammer and Keith have been good enough.
- SteveRain
Yup. Sharp always has been that guy.
He's great.

I wonder how many pages of meandering, run-on sentence rants can fit on one thread on HB? I think this blog will set the record |

Vaguely remember feeling this way when we were down 3-1 to Detroit....
then again...
We are playing Boston, not Detroit.

JJ - What's the word on Hossa? Did he take a puck to the face? - Dannyboy
Quenville said he is day to day with an upper body injury and hopefully he will be back for the next game. He also said that Hossa was NOT hit in the face with a puck. |

a small and fast team is gonna beat a big physical team by accepting the agression and punishing them on the powerplay, just like montreal often do when they play boston. - jdacosta
Except they don't call penalties much in the finals. Also, the big bodies wear down the small ones during a series at this time of year. You can almost smell the fear on the Hawks D as they skate into the corners to retrieve the dump ins. |

Neither is my team, but I like both.Tough game for Hawk fans, but it aint over yet. Detroit seemed to deflate the boys too in one particular game, and they came back. Even if they don't win the series, I expect them to get back in it.This series goes 6 minimum. Besides,as long as the effort is there, there is no shame in losing to this very good Bruins team. It's not as shameful as getting beat by Vancouver anyway. |

It's not the end of the world but that was a bad game. But give credit to the Bruins, they're playing stronger and smarter. Tonight they were always where the puck was.
Boston is a beatable team, but not if we play like this. We need better entry into the offense zone and some results on the power play.
Toews and Kane need to step up big time, we'll win or lose by their play. |

Huh... they don't have the heart to duke it out.. That f'n simple. No PP QB.. no #2 C.. nothing consistent on the W to dump/chase. They are playing scared. If you cant see that then WTFE. Its one thing to lose, its another to lose like their is zero organization on your team. And this is a blog where opinions are the foundation. Never mind..... 2010 is gone.. that team had the balance. No Ladd, Buff, Burish.. those guys had ballz and the mentality/skill to go with it. This team is all race horse and zero mule. Hawks have wilted from the fore check. That's the f'n sad part. - z1990z
give me a good reason why Smith who has not played in the NHL this year plays instead of a physical player like Carcillo
Q has gone brain dead |

Spot on Z....but they still gotz to win 4...hopefully Q's line blender gets crushed by a bus and he institutes simple lines and tells the boys to play dump and chase and CRASH THE PHUCKING NET.

Well I knew the WAHHHHHH-mbulance would be out in full force tonight.
I was disheartened by this game, but I'm not totally discouraged. Game 4 is still there to be won. The hawks are definitely have to step up their game, as they haven't faced a team like this in the Western Conference this year. But this team has risen to the challenge all year.... Including a couple of other times this year when JJ has come on this board, declared the Hawks dead, and said that serious questions have to be asked.
This series isn't over. not by a long shot. |

JJ - What's the word on Hossa? Did he take a puck to the face? - Dannyboy
Supposedly, he was not hurt in warmups. According to Toews, they knew there was a chance all day that he would not play tonight, so I'm guessing he had to have gotten hurt on Saturday. The guy's a great player, but aside from Bolland, he's hurt more than anyone else on the team. |

I don't want to speculate too far into the future because this series is far from over, but what can the team possibly do this off-season? The team currently has just over $2 million in cap space. Presuming Dave Bolland gets dealt, and Steve Montador gets bought out, the team would have a tad over $7 million in cap space. Now, you MUST re-sign the RFA's Nick Leddy and Marcus Kruger. In regards to UFA's, it's safe to presume that all but Bickell, and perhaps Rozsival are for sure not coming back next season. Let's assume the team re-signs Bickell due to his playoff performance to a $3.5 million dollar annual contract. That would put the team pretty close to the salary cap. Realistically, who could the team possibly trade? Toews is untouchable, as is Keith. Patrick Sharp and Marian Hossa are invaluable to the organization. I really can't see a situation where they AREN'T going to be back next season. Patrick Kane and Brent Seabrook? I'd say that Patrick Kane is likely staying put, and Brent Seabrook could perhaps be dealt in the right deal, though it wouldn't make sense at this point given how the team lacks size from the blue line.
Going forward, regardless of what happens in this series, I don't expect much change, if at all. Maybe a Brookbank-type signing like JJ suggested, but for those clamoring for a PP QB and 2L C, I wouldn't expect it barring trade - which for as long as Stan and co. are in charge, won't happen. "They'll be happy with what they have." |

Toews is either hurt, or he forgot how to play even faster than Bolland did. He was bad tonight, really bad. I see no reason to expect him to step up anytime soon. |
