Newsflash Bozak is a 3rd line center playing on the top line with Kessel. Weiss is a 2nd line center that has good playmaking skills unlike Bozak. Weiss is a way better fit than Bozak. Would you have Weiss at 5 mil plus or Bozak? Exactly. - Smurfs-A-Joke
How about neither at 5 million? |

what about filppula? would he be worth the gamble?
edit: he had 66 points last year in 81 games, struggled this year so he may not be expecting a huge pay day. i'd say hes a better gamble over bozak or weiss |

he can play center and he's learned from 2 of the best 2 way centers in zetterberg and datsyuk |

I like his game. He's a good player and might be worth the gamble. I'd like to see them get Clarkson as well. |

it would be nice to add both of them. filppula would easily make our 1st line better considering his offensive game is better then bozak's while his defensive game is pretty good. clarkson to round out the top 6 and play with kadri and lupul will give them more space on the ice |

I agree. The Leafs have to continue to get bigger and stronger. I think Weiss would just be a lateral move at best. I don't think he's the answer and I don't think Bozak will get much better than he is right now. |

Also, Bozak is not a dominant physical presence. The Leafs need size and grit at centre. |

And I hate the Canadian spelling of centre. Should be center. |

maybe it was clarkson's mom lol she wants him to come back home. and if we need a more physical presence in our 1st line center filppula won't be the answer lol but i don't think he needs to be physical. he knows how to control the puck and him and jvr/kessel could play the keep away game easily, where with bozak they couldn't |

Yeah, I'm just not impressed with Bozak's physical game. He's great in shootouts though. |

Bozak is what he is: a decent 2/3 center with good faceoff skills, speed, but not enough finish and too weak playmaking ability to really excel in a scoring role; and he's not big, edgy or defensively sound enough to be a shutdown guy.
Weiss would be a lateral/slight upgrade because of his playmaking ability, but I'd rather let Kadri and Grabovski center the top two lines, bring in a Gordon and a big top 6 winger to round out of bottom 6 and top 6 and call it a day for centers.
Lupul Kadri Kessel
JVR Grabovski Horton
Kulemin McClement Frattin
McLaren Gordon Orr

Detroit has been a great puck possession team and maybe he can bring some of that to the Leafs. |

we need a 3rd/4th liner whose a shootout specialist. Jokinen would have helped if we picked him off of waivers. bozak was the only one who could score |

That works for me too. I just don't want Nonis to stand pat with Bozak on the first line.

i would still prefer filppula in the #1 role. i'd say he signed at about 4 mil, has better play making and puck handling abilities then bozak does. not to mention since he learned from datsyuk and zetterberg, he can teach kadri to be a better 2 way guy and not just think offense all the time |

I like Jokinen's game. He's solid for a guy under 6' and 200 lbs. I didn't watch him in the playoffs so I don't know how he did. I hoped the Leafs could have got him on waivers but that didn't happen. |

I would like to see him in the fold, but we'd have to move Grabovski unless we want another year of massive salary on the 3rd line; I don't think he's getting moved until he puts up another career average or better season. |

yea, or we trade a bad contract for a bad contract that we buy out and the other team could possibly see if grabo would work out there |
