I'm sure he's got one with the word "jizz mop" scrawled across it in black sharpie.

Hawks have a fan base for what 5 years and all of a sudden they're the know-all hockey fans?
- snipesydangle

So I guess in the 80s those were people dressed as seats who went to red wings games?

It would be good for us and bad for Van for sure. Torts' GIANT EGO is a massive liability to any team/network he ends up with.

This is the perfect reason why Torts should be behind the bench in Vancouver.

HI, GO HAWKS!
Seriously I don't think I could handle the Bruins winning...

I will now be moderating in here and my hammer comes down as fast as a Habs exit from the playoffs.

No what annoys you is your team lost to the Hawks. You don't read my blogs. I don't put "pitchers" of "purty girls" in them with 18-point type. You don't know how much praise I continually heap on the WIngs' organization.

You don't even have a point. You just want to argue. You're a troll.

But regardless of who Gillis hires as head coach, GM's almost never can fail with 2 hand picked head coaches and not get canned. So the next guy there needs to figure things out, probably in a short while. It also likely means Gillis hires someone with NHL experience. Gillis probably doesn't have the time to have a new head coach learn on the job. But regardless, it will be an interesting next year or so for the Canucks as they're getting old and have some tough decisions to make.

A lot of praise has undoubtedly already been heaped...but I thought Bollig had one of his best games, if not his best, as a Hawk. He provided a lot of big, heavy hits and was responsible on the ice. That's exactly what the Hawks needed from him against a bigger team early in a series. I suspect we'll see Vik later in the series after Q lets Bollig get in some more shots.

This is going to be a tough, tough series...

Unless things change dramatically in the series or there is an injury Stalberg has played his last game as a Blackhawk.

I agree Rob. I hope Gillis brings in Torts. Perpetuate the stupidity in Vancouver I say! He'll fit right in.

- EKolb13

I don't know why so many loathe the guy.

I said this a couple days ago, Torts is great entertainment...as long as he is NOT the Hawks head coach.

Torts is a quote machine.

Now JJ, that's not totally true...

...you do post one picture of a strikingly attractive brunette member of the Hawks Ice Crew.

I'm just a fan too, and just a casual one at that....

... And I'm not sure if it's a mistake or not. I've wanted to like VS since he came from the Leafs, because he seems to have the complete skill-set necessary to be a legitimate top 6 contributor in the NHL, so at the time the Versteeg trade seemed OK to me.

But you know what? He's a gun that never quite goes off. He's never been able to translate his physical tools into anything approaching a complete game, and his value to the team is little more than that of a decoy who can maybe stretch the defenders a little bit. Sure, he throws a check or dishes the puck once in while, but he's not really either a battler or a reliable stick handler in the true sense of the word. So if he's not scoring, why suit him up?

For a Leaf fan, these references are gold!

I'd think though with his speed, this series would be perfect for Stalberg...i mean speedy forwards with size give the bruins fits.

I have given Stalberg a lot of rope and he has had to retool his game since coming here.

But he has had an opportunity to play a more significant role and still makes the same mistakes and doesn't make anyone around him better.

I really can't see Q making a change with his bottom six forwards especially after they were a main reason the Hawks won.

People can dis Bollig but as long as he doesn't take bad penalties, plays well defensively and hits on the forecheck he will be in the lineup. ...And he did all that last night.

Finally decided to join after reading this blog for a while. Born and raised Chicagoan and diehard 'Hawks fan for just about all of my 50 years on this earth. Still miss the Stadium and remember the Lorne Molleken, Mike Smith and Alpo (mumbles) years.

Six years ago got a job offer that I couldn't refuse that required my family to relocate to the Detroit Metro area. First thing my then 11 and 9 year old sons asked was, "Do I need to be Red Wings fan?" I told him not if they want to still be part of the family.

It was tough to endure the Wings eliminate the Hawks our first year here in the WCF. Watched, cheered and yes cried from afar when I watched the 'Hawks win in '10. Something I was wondering if I would ever see in my lifetime. We drove in for the parade and were fortunate to be right up front by the stage. We took special joy this year in seeing the 'Hawks own the Wings in the season. We were there for the 2-1 shoot out win (Kane) and the 7-1 blowout. We wore our Hawks jerseys at The Joe proudly.

When the Hawks went down 1-3 in the series I dreaded what looked like might happen as I saw co-workers and friends gloat. I took immense joy when the Hawks came back. As much as some Wings posters like to talk about how great the Wings fans are, I can tell you that most fans had written the team off. They only got excited when the Wings got hot in the end, and when the Wings lost, there were many that had already turned on Babcock and Holland. So much for true fans.

Cheering the Hawks from Red Wings country and hoping we can come home for another parade.
