You're missing my point. When Babcock questions officiating, he questions the consistency, and the fact that it ultimately dries up in the playoffs. I see that written in almost every blog on this site, yet when the opponent's team/coach/management does it, they're complainers and whiners. How does that work? And sore loser? Hardly, I not once thought the Wings would even make it to 7 games against the Hawks. I was not on here to troll, but not one person has clarified their rationale on this subject.
- snipesydangle

That is still working the officials. Babcock has complained about officiating many, many times. He has also been "in their face" as well. You cannot deny a fact.

Also, JJ quite frequently compliments Backcock, the Wangs FO and ownership.

You've missed the point all day so move on.

Hawks have a fan base for what 5 years and all of a sudden they're the know-all hockey fans?

Chicago has had a pretty bountiful fan base for as long as I can remember. Back in the days of the Norris division I remember a lot of Hawks fans attending games vs the North Stars at the met.

If I'm not mistaken, Detroit, NY and Chicago were all introduced to the original six in the same year, I think back in the late 20's.

edit: 1926

There are a lot of decent Wings fans out there, but quite a lot of them feel some sense of entitlement because of their past Cup history.

Chicago has ALWAYS had a huge huge fan base here in Chicago.

There was about an 8-10 year period where Hawk fans finally threw up their arms and said: We aren't attending games till you treat us better. Anyone who doesn't know the story of how Bill Wirtz treated Hawk fans and the players on this team really need to become educated on the story as to understand why Hawk fans FINALLY reacted the way they did.

"Season ticket reservation holders"
No local TV of the game
Numerous players traded or not signed in their primes because he was incredibly cheap

That's just the tip of the iceberg.

Yea, but how was the attendance from 2000-2007? Very low if I recall. Obviously I know when the team was introduced to the league.

And you obviously have ZERO clue why during that period that you so skillfully selected why that happened. Stick to the topics you have a clue about pal.

This city blows Detroit out of the water when it comes to how passionate/knowledgeable their fan base is.

I don't feel any entitlement seeing as I've only been around for less than half of their Cup victories. What is annoying is to see the same blogger constantly complain about the other teams never getting calls, when it always goes both ways.

lol, that's very debateable. You'd be saying the exact opposite if you were from Detroit.

I feel the hawks D aggressively pinching and were making it difficult for Boston to breakout. However there was numerous times that Boston broke out with odd man rushes if it wasn't for the Hawks speed they would have got burned alot more this game. They need to tighten up defensively as a teamif there going to be that aggressive.

- Ruboy88

There were quite a few plays where it was Shaw, Saad, or another forward busting their butts back into the D zone in order to be the 2nd guy back. I'm glad the forwards were able to use their speed to negate some of those odd rushes, but where is the other defender and center on those plays? It isn't necessarily a winger's job to be the 2nd man back.

No - it's not really "debateable". Chicago is constantly mentioned by sports writers/bloggers etc about how rabid of a fan base they have here.

Detroit fans have stopped showing up to Pistons games
Tiger games were sparsely populated till they got good again
You can find tickets to Red Wing playoff games day of said playoff game

Then why read him? And why troll around here?

Yeah, we didn't have the best ownership and the product sucked....How about the Wings trade away Lidstrom, Yzerman in their primes, and see how your fan base reacts? That's what happened here with Chelios, Belfour, and Roenick.

And by the way, every time I watch a wings game, all I see are empty seats...so while your fan base may being renewing tickets, they aren't showing up or finding anyone to fill those seats.

Too bad you guys are leaving......we would have enjoyed the yearly @ss whipping we've been laying on you the past few years.....

The "lean" years still averaged 13k - 15k fans. Not bad since the Hawks of that era mirror the Islanders of today.

Detroit, at one stage, had an almost 2 decade stretch not making the playoffs. I think it was back during the Hull/Mikita era for the Hawks. Do you have the attendance numbers then?

Fortunately, quite a few of us said "enough" to Dollar Bill and Pulford's garbage and didn't buy a terrible product.

I guess what you are saying is Wings fans are moronic enough to support losers.

Of course, that is pretty much Detroit's MO. Stand behind failing products no matter what.

And yes, I am done with this A$$. No need to feed this pissant troll.

Haven't ever watched a game where I saw so many "almost" goals to win it. On both sides. Wow....

Good blog. Hawks look much faster and seem to be able to hang physically. Just need to be smart in our own end and I think we have an edge in this series. Shaw was all over the place last night. Perfect "playoff" game. I am sure why he had a target on him from Claude...

Frolik was the only one who didn't look tired in OT on both teams. He was absolutely flying even on longer shifts. I didn't like the Bollig move. But he played a disciplined solid game. Good for him.

The 'Dead Wings' era is always conveniently wiped from the memory of Detroit fans. Thankfully, this lasting image is still very fresh in our minds.

Yeah, with the possible exception of Art Modell in Cleveland (and then only after he took the Browns and skipped town), I doubt there's been a sports owner in history as despised as Dollar Bill, and a bad odor definitely permeated the organization, and a bad blood between ownership and fans... I can still remember hearing "Ding dong the Wirtz is dead!" after he passed.

Today's various complaints about about any aspect of the Hawks organization (StanB, McD, Kompon, who or whatever) don't even begin to compare. It's a great time to be a Blackhawks fan!

I love the new go-to for Red Wing fans - "Chicago fans have only been watching hockey for 5 years". Really? Been to the Red Wing page lately (or ever for that matter)? Crickets.....always. Seen JLA on tv with a ton of empty seating? I have...always. Chicago has ALWAYS had a very deep fanbase with obvious bandwagoners as of late. But who hasn't? Who cares? We know by conversation who the fans are and aren't (I always ask if they remember Alpo Suhonen - usually weeds em out).

IT's troll mania out here...

Leafs and TB fans...I get it. Rumor, you want to comment.

The haters? Priceless....Wings and Canucks fans bombarding the last 2 threads. Not going to detract from the glow of last night's win.....

- SteveRain

Canucks fans should just shutup. At least Detroit fans have seen there team win a cup. Canucks are the biggest chokers in the NHL.
